Nah! Sometimes I'm outright dense.

I *never* read directions. I'm not much of a front page guy so I've never really had to ponder uploading an original early, plus I'm rarely out of town so there's that.....

It was just dumb luck that I figured that out.

Since I knew that I would be away at rollover for three of my entries, I submitted the originals.

One of them gave me an error message twice.

The third time, no error message.
So, I assumed that the last one was successful.

My image showed later that I’d uploaded the original THREE times.

All good.

Left for vacation and … after rollover…. Got a request from SC. For the original (which I’d uploaded three times).

I don’t know how to be sure that my original is uploaded without uploading it and then submitting a “contact us” request asking if they got it.

They did validate it quickly after I asked my son to drive an hour to my house, upload the image for the fourth time, and drive back to his place for another hour.

There needs to be a system. In my opinion, that tells you that it’s readable.

My screen said they had three copies of my original image, but SC couldn’t see it.

We could SEE that you had uploaded 3X, it's just that the "uploads" were empty placeholders. It was all tied into that kerfuffle we had a little while ag where nothing was uploading properly, and it has been fixed. Sorry for the confusion.

The one I uploaded last week for my Male Portrait worked fine on a single upload.

I think, but I am not sure, that Lydia was uploading before a planned trip and during the time period when uploads were problematical...

Bear is correct!

I uploaded because I knew I’d be away at rollover and if they needed the original, I needed them to have it.

My worry is that I was sure that they had the original, but they did not, and there was no way for me to know that they didn’t, with the current system.

How can I find out if they received and have my original before leaving next time?

Should I use Contact Us and ask each time to make sure SC got them?

Lydia. You knew the upload failed twice, so something wasn't right. Not your fault, but you were aware.

As Robert has mentioned, it's been fixed. If you are truly concerned you can certainly use the 'contact us' link if you want to follow up.

I think y'all need to make an ironclad guarantee that if a site issue ever screws up the clock on entries, validations, or any other unplanned or unimagined issue occurs, you should *PROMISE* to take that challenge's prize money and distribute it equally amongst the participants.

It's only fair, ya know?

So everyone gets 1/35th of a ribbon or whatever? Makes absolute sense. :-)

Geez, Robert. It's not necessarily like that.

If there are only 34 entries, then it's 1/34th, and so on.

I never thought I'd have to explain that to YOU of all people!!!

I'm pretty sure it's Jimson Weed, which is known to cause sarcasm in otherwise benign, socially-sensitive people :-)

Nobody has ever accused me of being benign before. Lots of things, but never benign.

Of course, nobody ever accused me of being socially sensitive, either.

That is true, but neither can you prove this theory.

And Robert, who the heck is Herman?

You are 100% correct.

I did know that there was a problem with the first two uploads. That’s why I uploaded the third time.

When I got no error message on the third upload, I assumed that all was well and that my original was received. Only when I was still away and I received the request for the original from SC did I figure out that there was still a problem.

Which brings me to my concern: I submitted my original (three times) before I left. Got no error message and my screen showed that SC received three copies of my original.

How do I know SC received it? The negative notice thing no longer instills confidence that they received it.

Should we all submit and then send a “contact us” query each time we know we will be away? Or is there a simpler solution that I don’t see… to guarantee that the original truly HAS been received even though the site already says it was, but… it wasn’t?

I can’t always be sure that someone will be able to go to my house and re-submit my original while I’m gone.

So, I’m looking for a solution.

Can SC see what is in our workshops? Could we place originals there to be accessed in an 'emergency'?

SC, no, Admin, maybe. Manic, Robert, or Fritz could answer this ...

ETA - good question though. :-)
