The former 1st, 3rd & 5th-place images in the "Habits II" challenge have been DQ'd because they did not follow the Minimal Editing rules. Yep, I'm one of them :-( Slipped right by me, AGAIN :-(

Congrats to our new ribboners and HMs.

whatttttt??? Wow, I think in DPC history first time it happened that the three got DQed :(

They were all good specially the first one - Plane one and yes the shot did make me feel that there is connection between the two :(

Sorry to hear that Robert, what a shame! That's why I hate minimal challenges.

It would be interesting to see how many in the challenge actually did follow the minimal rule set.

Ouchy, it is the JPEG that gets me, always forget it and shoot in RAW

Just for the record, I LOVE minimal challenges. Not for the DQ's that just happened, but for the challenge in getting the shot right in the first place, and then not having to fuss with it to submit; just resize and sharpen. Good to go! :-)

Holy cow! That moved me up to third?

Me too, I just think about having without any post processing makes me think on how to shoot something and that makes it like pop :)

Basically, what happened here is administrative miscommunication and (possibly) fat fingers. We have never before had a Minimal Challenge be Archival (not everyone shoots JPG unless we force them to), and the Admin that scheduled this challenge was (A) not aware of that and (B) doesn't think he hit the Minimal button anyway, but it lives right next to the Standard button, so... who knows? Water under the bridge... The related issue is, since it was an unanticipated Minimal it didn't get FLAGGED either and... You can see how that may be confusing ;-)

Bottom line, we're currently not planning to have the DQs go on the "bad bad bad" list and count towards suspensions. Does that seem fair to y'all? I ask because I am one of the ones affected :-)

I think that anyone who DQ's should be hung from a mast and put under public ridicule! (Been there:()

we did discuss this issue (Minimal + Archival) when the challenge was just announced, Habits disclaimer. Evidently, that exchange went under your radar. I commented that it would be hard for a lot of folks like me to enter archival shots since we don't normally shoot in JPEG (so I ended up not entering anything).

I think it's fine if these DQ's are not counted toward suspensions.

I remember that discussion.
