Canon EOS M6 Mark II.

So excited to have focus stacking and pre-shot buffering.

I just wish it had a built-in EVF

I couldn't live without a viewfinder. But the pre-shot buffering would be incredible!!

I hear you.
Yet I'm still thinking of getting the Ricoh GRIII for street photography.

Thanks Wendy.

I couldn't live without a viewfinder either. It does have one, but it comes off. It fits into the hotshoe, so one can't use the viewfinder and an external flash at the same time.

That's a bit of a nuisance, but if I really need both I'll have to use my M50.

Consider shopping against Fujifilm at price point. End of commercial message.

I am buying the Nikon 1 J5 from my daughter as an alternative to my DSLR. I don't want to take my 1.5 kg DSLR combo everywhere but on the other hand am always disappointed with the images of my phone. This is a nice alternative. It is small, light, easy to bring along and still has a good image quality and the possibility to take RAW images.

Same as yours, no viewfinder, so often hard to see what is actually in the frame. Also pre-shot buffering, automatic and manual best image selection, auto-selfie mode, and a few other nice features. Good close-up capability as well. A lot of distortion at wide angle but easy to correct in post processing. My old lightroom and photoshop CS3 (or actually: the adobe camera raw version) are incompatible with the RAW format but when I convert to DNG everything works fine.

My original post was misleading to those unfamiliar with the camera. It does have a viewfinder.

It just comes off like an external flash and goes into the same hotshoe, meaning you can't use both at the same time.

The viewfinder is a separate purchase.

Well?? Is it what you hoped? Do you love it?

I rented the A1 for a week before I bought it -- because I couldn't see spending that much money on a camera. After 20 minutes with the rental I was scouring my house to see what I could sell. I sold everything that wasn't locked down. I tried selling my husband, but no one would buy him!

I find myself just wanting to use the camera. I want to go find someplace tomorrow to photograph wildlife. I don't have anything in mind, and I actually have more photos to cull and clean up than I could possibly use in the next couple of months. But I still want to go find something to photograph.

I'm in love!

I haven't had the opportunity to test its abilities properly yet because the risk of Covid is still keeping me at home (even shopping online again) while I wait for our 3rd wave to end. And it's too cold to even spend time in my garden shooting birds.

For now I'm enjoying the ability to shoot decent macros of inanimate objects.
