Just an idea to check if there is any interest. This side challenge would be about sharing what is not allowed on DPC, examples:

- you had a disc crash or otherwise lost your originals and would like to share the post-processed/altered image

- your original is on analog film

- you have used clip-art or other elements from free libraries in your creation (other than textures)

- your image capture device does not record Exif

and so on, it could even extend to photos of your paintings or links to your videos (like ' . substr('https://www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('https://www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Alex_Petrini does occasionally). I find the DPC rules sometimes too restrictive so this ongoing "no rules" Side Challenge would be useful for me.

Any interest?

Would love to see some examples of your work Margaret that would be a good post in this thread. You know, kick start it so to speak. :-)

Margaret are thinking of a free thread where to post our "not real challenges" stuff or of a side challenges with specific subjects? Thanks for mentioning me :)

My idea is anything you like that would not be possible to post to a challenge, no specific subjects. The only requirement would be that it would involve images hence I mentioned paintings and moving pictures, you could also think about computer graphics! :)

yeah I like this idea. I would participate.

It could be good for 'then and now' comparisons where the older version was pre-digital.

This sounds like it could be fun, but please remember that "Not Allowed" rules in the TOS still apply (i.e. no pornography, incitements to violence, etc.).

Is this open to archival images?

It sounds to me like this is the point.

I will kick off with a scan of an old slide. It was taken in the 80s in the days when I took photos only during holidays. They were all slides, mostly poor quality. I can't remember what camera I used, I can only assume I had one ;) This is how much I knew these days about photography :)

I wish I went to Fraser Island before I left Australia when I had much better digital gear, I believe the Maheno wreck is still there although 30+ years must have left much less of it.

A series of 4 images depicting my early childhood.

Taken with an analogue Cambo view-camera on 4x5 inch polaroid.

The Polaroid was soaked in hot water and the emulsion layer with the image was lifted of the white polaroid paper and then transferred onto structured watercolour paper.

Was it in late 60s? The process made them look even older. Interesting history.

The images were taken in 2007. My son was the model. I was born in 1961 so these are indeed depicting late 60s time.

Sorry, I missed "depicting"! :) They are very original.

You painted it using watercolor and then took a picture of it?

I went through a box of old photos shot on film without finding the one I wanted to submit. I did however see a bunch of photos I'd like to redo when I can find time. So I guess I'm already benefitting from this thread.

The camera info of the photo shows Canon 6D. That is what I used to take a photo of the negative. The photo was taken with a Lomo camera gifted by a gone friend ' . substr('https://www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('https://www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . taken with an SLR, maybe a Pentax? 20 years ago, on black and white film. I think I developed the print myself. I might have even developed the negatives.

Analog version of a subject I did shoot couple of times with various cameras.
