Sorry, got behind (again).

Here's a few from a couple days ago when I had a chance to get outside for a little while. Very windy and challenging.

, ,

Darn it. I thought I'd left comments on these and I didn't (dinner time took priority :).

Spider - The lens was maybe 5 or 6 inches away. Max is F16 on this lens. No flash and was already shooting at ISO 800 and F5.6 because of the light. Not sure how you guys get a better DOF? Might have to try playing with a flash head myself so I can tighten up the f-stop.

Flower - It's about the size of a pencil eraser head. The wind was blowing hard and I was shooting this hand-held. Might have to give these another shot on a calmer afternoon here soon. :-)

Stinkbug - This thing was moving fast. Noticed it when it was about chest high. The photo here was taken with my arms over my head and the camera stretched out on the tree bark. No way I could stop down on this critter! Maybe I'll see another one soon (or maybe I'll just let these be). ;-P

Decided to try a macro with my phone. A falling-apart tulip with an interesting center. Still like the big camera images better but the phone has lots of fun features to play with and it's way more portable.

New nickname for roz ... the "bug whisperer". Don't know HOW you get so close to your subjects without them flying off!

Yikes! This would scare off a venus fly trap! Looks like the "Jaws" of the plant world. :-)

Chip and Dip

I'm not happy with the lighting using the built in ring light on my EF-M 28mm macro lens.

Photoshop could have fixed it, but I couldn't get rid of the vignette editing on my phone.

an afternoon in the garden

Loosing quite some sharpness due to resizing to 1200 pixels and limiting it to 700k unfortunately.

And a 1 to 1 crop of the image, so no resizing, just cropping to below 1200 pixels.

and the same for the body

Hi Willem - There shouldn't be any restrictions on size when uploading to your portfolio. The only restriction would be if you exceed the your total space (default is 100mb if you haven't purchased more). I usually save space and upload to side challenges like I would for a challenge entry with the 700/1200 limits.

One more for today. I had taken a picture of my parrot tulip with the big camera and while processing noticed a little interloper. Did I squish him immediately? No, of course not, I went back and took a better picture of him LOL. Then I escorted him outside. He just didn't belong in my kitchen.

Yikes, here I am in catch-up mode again. :-}

No luck chasing anything interesting outside so I went with a (sort of) abstract macro approach. Maybe.

Went to a park this morning to photograph their many different kinds of flowers. Now I have lots more flower macros LOL. Will refrain from sharing them all here. No promises on FB.

Was walking by a twig that had fallen off a tree in my front yard and was fascinated by the various fungi growing on it. Converted from RAW, AI Denoise, resize.

Dusted off the M42 Bellows. Attached the Sears M42 55/2.8 Macro lens with 1:1 extension.

Little bit tight on room for focusing!

,

Removed the 1:1 extension for more wiggle room.
,

Glad I made the adjustment. :-)

Diamond

I was amazed to see just how scratched my ring is. Macro shots show every fault.

I'm not too happy with the lighting though. Something I need to work on.
