I had a tough choice choosing my entry for this one. I wonder if one of my other alternatives would have done better?

P-A-U-L, you certainly had a tough choice there.

I really like these two:

Thanks Gina - I would have gone with your entry if I had been faced with that choice.

Thanks Paul. I'm almost certain the outtake would have got me another brown ribbon. Unfortunately I left shooting for this challenge (and many others) until very late and then realised the apples we had were very ugly.

Paul, all your options have potential and a few would do better than your entry. I think you need to take editing lessons from Mary Ann to take them to a new level :)

Thank you Margaret. Oh I didn't know Mary Ann was offering such a service - sign me up! :)

I've been shooting a lot of blurry photos over the last few days, but I haven't had time to upload any - not even onto my computer. We've had two power failures this week - yesterday's lasted nearly 10 hours. I ended up editing my Oz to Kansas entry on my phone way after midnight.

To me, Paul, your entry had so much more to say than any of the very nice alternates that were more technically oriented.
A well deserved and a very pleasant surprise for me, thus my 10.

I agree -- It was brilliantly done -- just the right crop and colors and the right balance of the colors. I found it very evocative and gave it a 9.

I like them both, actually. I gave the entry a 6. It was interesting, but for some reason I wanted a little less of the blue checkerboard. It seemed to take over the shot. And the dumb thing is, I wanted a better title. I say it's dumb, because I rarely ever even look at titles. But when a photo confuses me or intrigues me, I look for the title to give a little more context.

I find the outtake quite intriguing, but something's not quite right, and I'm not sure what. My gut reaaction says that the crop needs to be different. But I find the colors warm and rather delicious.

Thanks Wendy. I can't say I was totally happy with either of them but at least I tried. I wish I'd have a nice red apply because I'm sure I could have done better with that. I had to blur these to hide all the blemishes.

Most of the time I'm not very good with titles. I'd love to know if anyone has better ideas.

Good to know. Tastes differ so I'll never know how it would have done. It just felt a bit dull to me.
