Post your outtakes from the Painting with Light VIII challenge here.

My entry was taken at the beautiful Windansea beach in La Jolla, where this gazebo has been perched for God knows how long, open to all winds...

But actually, I took this shot first

but then decided that a lighted human figure inside would add interest. So on the following night (the last one before rollover) I came back with my wife. Unfortunately, the moon was too high, and there were no clouds, so the sky was not as interesting. Thus, it was a tossup - sky vs. human figure. I asked tanguera for advice, and she gave me an additional push towards the human figure :).

Not surprising for a dance instructor ... ;-)

However, I agree -- the clouds are nice, but the Moon is too bright and detracts from your "painted" subject.

Is that the moon? Looks more like a biblical bright star. The rest of the outtake sky is great but I prefer your entry because of the human figure.

I do like your entry, but I do love the night sky in your outtake!

You're right, it does feel biblical. I should have brought a mother with a baby there :)

He he! Formidable shot. I scored very high the entry but this would have been 10. Biblical star beats any sunset!

to me, yes I would have gone with the human figure too though I see star popped and that gives extra boost but not sure how to read that as painting with light :(

This was my entry

and this was another one but I really didn't get that feeling because of the face expression and the road was all messy because of snow storm.

You chose wisely, I think.

I'd really need the face to be in focus to vote it higher than your entry.

Well done.

Lev, I would have voted them both the same.
