I was just outside on the back porch and it is that time a day that there is just a tiny bit of light left and you really cant see, right before it is completely dark..well i thought i saw something move on the roof and was standing by the chimney..well as usual with camera in hand i turned up the flash zoomed in to where i thought it was and hoped for the best...just to see what it was..well anyways...to my shock this is what i saw

IS THIS A RAT ON MY ROOF!

It is going to go down my chimney and into my house i just know it! after i took the pic it ran and i lost it

I fixed the red eye so it looks a little funny

Definately looks like a rat.

Seeing as this is a website, let me virtually lend you Clyde, he's good at rats, birds and all sorts of other gifts for us in the middle of the night...

Althoguh he's got enough rats at the moment, we live next to a stream and get nice big-uns regularly disected on the back porch...

The biggest rat I ever saw in my life was lovingly delivered to my back door by my cat in North Carolina. Ewwww!

We have a huge rat infestation at my work. Rats the size of cats. Lots and LOTS of them.
But then again, What else are the snakes going to eat?? OH The benefits of working at a pet store. lol

Don't trust them about the cat stories. I had four cats in my house when a squirel decided to move in for the winter. He was to fast for me to catch, so I let my 4 cats at him (not to kill him, but to corner him). They all ran away. He even used their water bowl as a bath! They'd just sit beside it and watch him. After about a month, I opened a window in his room and let him escape.

You got those scaredy-cats... a very different breed. My cat used to leave a squirrel tail on the doorstep several times a week. I was just thankful we didn't have moose in the neighborhood.

...although we DID get a flying squirrel trapped in the house one day. THAT was interesting!

My friends cat was a hunter. He's go out at night and kill lots of things for us. In the morning, there would be a trail from the front door to the foot of the bed. He just couldn't understand why we kept throwing out his presents.
Were you able to catch your squirrel? They sure are fast when they get frightened.

Two years ago, my toddler came upstairs crying because a squirrel in the Christmas tree scared her. It had managed to climb down thechimney and open the glass fireplace doors. Oh, goody.

Our cat has lately been delivering muskrats to our door. They are huge! But he's a hunk of a cat, too.

i know i may be young and into rather comedy movies :P but have any of you seen mouse hunt?
it is one seriously funny movie and a deffinite recommend...
onto my point.. there is a scene where they go out looking for a cat and its like " im not talking about any ordinary cat.. im talking about one mean pussy!" and goes on to say " preferably one with a history of mental illness" and later on u get a scene of this viscious cat chained up in a box and ends up punchin its claws out of the box in an attempt to get the mouse :P
clearly it is my belief that u should see that movie in order to find the best way possible of catchin the elusive devils ;) hehehe

Thats some big ass rat you have got, Geez you breed them big their.
If your cat won't hunt just cut out his feed for a while and they soon go hunting and make sure you reward him when he brings back his catch.
Or just get yourself a gun and shoot that big rat thing.
