on business next week and am going back and forth whether or not to take my camera. It's not that I mind bringing it, I just don't know if it will be worth the effort - what with the luggage and laptop and other miscellaneous work junk - if I can't get out of Calgary proper.

So is it worth it?

Got any shooting suggestions?

thanks!

If your stuck downtown:

Calgary Tower
8th Ave pedestrian mall (candids, street shots)

Otherwise:

Zoo
Heritage Park
Glenbow Museum

I say it's worth taking the camera. You never know what might inspire you.

It's rather brown here in Calgary at the moment. No leaves anymore. However, there are a few spots I'm interested in going in the next few weeks. It has warmed up and the snow that we got before Halloween has melted and almost gone. The aspens near the Bow are deliciously gnarled and stark in some spots and might make for some really interesting landscapes. Stephen Ave is great for street shots, yeah, and the zoo is cool too. The mountains are about an hour or so out of town but really, really worth the visit if you can make it.

Bring your woolies - the weather's really messed up here. One day it's 15 and the next it's -10.

Pedro is a Calgarian, as is GoldBerry, so maybe we can have a little get together. I need to get out with my camera soon.

thank you all very much for your input. I think I will bring the camera and see what happens. (and my mittens too!)

thanks again,

Shot these a couple of winters ago...tem was -35 F!

This little church was built in 1875 and is located in Morley, Alberta Canada west of Calgary. Great day for this shot with fresh snow, no tracks...and plenty of time to compose the image.

The road is from Banff to Calgary...forgotten the number but you can find Morley on a map.

the goats come down for the winter and right next to the road...easy shots!
