Any type of markets, food, craft, gifts, whatever.

Standard.

I like it.

Given the times we are in this would need to be archival.

I'd prefer Amazon.com :-)

Although, you do have this (in the rules) to be aware of:
"You May: include existing artwork in your entry, but photo-realistic artwork such as printed photos, monitor images or realistic illustrations must either be clearly presented as artwork or used only as a minor supporting element."

Unimportant details...

Most masks protect others, not you

Wear a mask and stay away from others? Use a lens with some length?

Why take the risk at all if you don't have to?

And find a market that hasn't been closed down?

Well, I suppose there are some area restrictions. That holds true for many challenges where all is not fair for the masses.

No skin off my nose - run it or not. If they do I'll find a spot to grab an image.

Or even if they are open there seem to be more sellers than buyers!

This challenge is not for pandemia.

This one isn't gonna happen in 2020 unless something changes drastically :-(

Do bear in mind that although we make an "Archival" challenge every week we still try to make it something people can conceivably shoot FOR the challenge as well.

Glad to hear this Robert (about having Archival challenges being subject matter that one could still realistically shoot currently).

Having said that, I put this Markets challenge in the same context as the current National Parks III (Archival challenge) that is running. Many parks / sites are still closed or have limited access - yet this challenge still ran.

As to this Markets challenge suggestion, I was stoking it (playing devils advocate) a little in hoping it WOULD take this route of not being run as an Archival challenge.

Yeah, but markets tend towards enclosed/limited spaces with lots of people involved. Parks tend toward open, outdoor spaces with people more spaced out. Bearing in mind that the challenge for National Parks includes Seashores, Monuments, Historical Sites and the like it's not that much of a stretch. Certainly, I can access the National Seashore here currently, Gettysburg is accessible, you get the idea I'm sure. Of course, you have to have ACCESS to one of those as well, distance-wise, hence the Archival tag.

Heck yeah! Even I'm in on the National Parks Challenge, LOL.

Well, we are an International site and I get the feeling that we (USA) have somewhat fewer restrictions (even then, you'd still have to travel, or at least most people would) to get to any of the National Parks locations (provided they are open). It's the travel part that is very restrictive to some. Not a big deal ... just saying.

As for markets I envision outdoor locations like Farmer's Markets or sidewalk vendors (plenty of OUTDOOR locations) if we really want to split hairs.
