Let the good times roll. Oh, and I can't wait to see what Jacko decides to shoot. :)

I bet we see a lot of eyes and water drops.

How much do you want to bet that there will still be one or two shots of bugs and flowers?

I give anyone with a bug or flower a ten :)

I already choose my subject and shoot it, now all I gotta do is edit and resize - I got a good feeling about this one, no itz not a bug or flower :p

question: Is a leaf counted as a flower or not? - what I mean if someone shoot a leaf would that be marked down?

A leaf is not a flower. Period.

However, some leaves may LOOK like flower petals due to their unusually smooth texture or bright colors. So you'd have to expect some grief in that case.

Is a snail a bug? I personally would love to see one challenge with not snails or slugs. This might be the opportunity!

Jacko will just take a macro picture of Sam's eye lash or something.

Is it allowable to use the macro technique whereby you remove your lens and reverse it, by actually holding the front of the lens to the camera? The reason I ask is because I think it will generate false EXIF data. I would appreciate any ruling from the site council, or anyone else who knows.

It would not record the Lens detail. But everything else would be recorded. I reversed my lens for the Macro IV challenge.

Most of Jacko's macros are done with a reversed lens setup. I can't see why it would be a problem.

Hmmm...he used to have a page describing the setup, but I can't find it.

Needed to look up "Anthropoda" for myself and thought I'd share--looks like snails and slugs are allowable, though.

How exactly does one do the "turn around" lens technique?
I am having trouble picturing it.

If I turn my lens around, doesn't that let a huge amount of extra light in?

I am confused.

yeah, after a spell of few productive ideas, I'm on the roll again. Too much of a roll, it appears, because now I've shot about 4-5 different ideas and I like them all. decisions. never been good on them. Well, let's go to ölstofan and have a beer. NO, not a good idea, produces bad results. [/rant][/thinking aloud]

Most of my friends couldn't ID my photo without me telling them or them seeing the title... I hope that doesn't affect the outcome too much as I think it's still pretty cool.

I think any biology related macro will get lower votes...especially on the "critter" side because the rule added "etc." I see the challenge is to come up with macros that are non-living targets versus fairly "easy", cute targets such as snails, leaves, moss, mushrooms, etc.

I think the winners will be super macros.....one stroke away from being microscopic......to the extreme or nothing....there is no middle ground......sad.

Hi there, I hope you don't find my question stupid, what do you mean by reversed lense? How does that work? What is the difference in the photo?
Thanks for coming back to me on that one
