Since we have to construct a scene with the subject (toys) is it OK to use an artificial background to help create the scene? Can we use a photograph that we have taken (within the challenge timeframe) or a picture we have drawn for the challenge as a backround. For example, a dinosaur toy with a picture of a forest in the backround or a toy bird flying over a pond.

You can use anything that's obviously hand-drawn or hand-made. What the artwork rule prohibits is using an image of an image to get around date-of-capture restrictions OR to fool the viewer into thinking the background is real.

I am still somewhat confused. Here are 2 examples of entries by Scalvert which represent my question a little better:
He used photographs as his backdrops. Is this OK?

| FWIW, you do not have to create a scene specifically. Toys can be posed, displayed, etc. however you'd like. |
