Hello everyone. Crazy world at the moment. Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

The question I'm curious about is whether you're stuck at home and not able to work, or if you are still working?
I happen to be fortunate to be working (it's crazy and a bit scary) as one of the 'essential service providers'. But I read descriptions like for the 'Toys' challenge "We're all stuck at home ...", or the 'What's on your Walls challenge' and "We're all tired of climbing the walls by now ...".

So, could we see how our community has been impacted, please?

1) Stuck at home and not working.
2) Still working.

I am stuck at home and still working (remotely). I am fortunately to still be working, I guess.

Ahhh, yes, forgot about that option. So it should be 3 questions then.

1) Stuck at home and not working.
2) Stuck at home but able to work remotely.
3) Still working.

Stuck at home and still working.
Although I might ask for a leave of absence soon for six weeks. Trying to teach my kids (5&8) while working is becoming more difficult.

Stuck at home and working remotely. Under normal conditions my job is about 50-60% travel and the rest phone support, but obviously the travel isn't happening right now.

I am retired. This means that I can work myself to death on just under 3 acres of mixed terrain; take measures to prevent marauders (deer, otters, racoons, rabbits, rats), and grow as many edibles as possible. And play with my retired spouse. Category 4?

We have a son stuck in a city high-rise who is fortunate to keep working as a techie from home.

That would surely drive me crazy.

My hat is off to categories 1 through 3.

Say no more :-) I posted a poll with as many options as occurred to me. If more options are needed let me know here and I'll add them in :-)

Apparently, I have *no* life since I was the first one to hit the poll...

Option 4:

Single mother, stuck at home with 3 teenagers, 4th teenager that has left home and you have to buy them grocery's and gas and pay their rent, as they think you are the stooge and you end up being the sucker that does this, even when you know they have money in their accounts and using up the money in mothers retirement fund to support them as father is a dead beat. , teenagers who refuse to do online school work, or assignments, who think this is a vacation, who do not get up till 3-5 pm every day, go to sleep at 3-5 am every day. Think that 1 chore a day of emptying dishwasher or trash is a huge inconvenience to them, Back talks, throw insults, and believes the world resolves around them, even though you are older, with underlying health conditions, and have to go to the store to keep them alive.

I really wish right now, that I had any of your jobs.

Actually, that was ME... Since I voted the moment it went up to be sure it was functional.

ETA: Poor Juliet :-( Toss 'em out in the desert with a liter of water and an extra pair of socks each, and tell them not to come back until they have made their fortunes :-)

I think I am just feeling sorry for myself as the 17 year old just announced he was getting a rattlesnake tattoo on his birthday in July and his Dad thinks that is a great idea.

I used the no enforcement option as Stay at Home in Switzerland it is a recommendation, not a law but almost everyone adheres to it. I don't know if there are others in this situation.

PS I am also retired.

Still working as I'm considered to be part of an essential service as I work as a Pathology Nurse at our regional hospital.
Hubby is at home in isolation and hasn't seen anyone except me for the last 3 weeks (he is surviving).

It's all rather blown out of proportion.

Anita, that is the most ridiculous comment I've ever seen. People all over the world are dying a horrible death, all alone and in great distress. I sure hope nobody you love is affected by it. That cavalier attitude is why we are in the mess we are in.

Retired (somewhat prematurely) and living with my elderly mother, so we were already self-isolating a week before it became law. I've been doing all our shopping online and now I couldn't go shopping even if I wanted to because the car battery is flat.

@Neat

"Also you don’t really hear many people talk about the fact that the cluster of people dying in New York come from highly densely cities like Queens, who have a huge proportion of migrant people living there, all on top of one another with auntie‘s uncles grandparents all living together, that’s a recipe for disaster and not ideal. And no, I’m not being racist stating that fact.. .just in case someone wants to get on their high horse to blast me"

There are soooo many things wrong with what you said in your post, but good Lord, this takes the cake. You are indeed being racist, even if you deem yourself otherwise. What you said above is not a fact. I don't know where you get your "facts", but you need a better source. What you wrote is disgusting.

But as for the healthy there is no need to quarantine or self isolate, forcing people to do so is a breach of our human rights. I’m all for the elderly isolating themselves and those who have travelled. As for everyone else it should go on as normal.

The reason COVID-19 is a big deal is because a person could be asymptomatic for up to fourteen days. It's irrelevant that you self quarantine after you show symptoms, it's the two weeks prior that counts.

The last I checked Australia doesn't have a national charter or bill of rights. So how are they breaching it?
If you're talking about the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights it's not a binding treaty.

Yes I do care about people, ...... Death and taxes are a given, it might sound harsh but death comes to all people.

There's a known way to lower the percentage of individuals who contact this virus, but your solution is to carry on as usual. Right now, today, COVID-19 has a fatality rate of 6.24%.

I’m saying this because the mess that the governments have to pick up after this disease dies off will be much worse, the cure is actually worse than the disease.

See above, jobs and money come back, lives don't.

The problem is the density, not their origins. Most large cities are facing similar problems.
When a person needs to state their not being racist they typically are, otherwise you don't need the qualifier in front.

At present where we live we have had one new case, in the last day, and yet the premier still wants to lock down for six more months, that is beyond belief., by the way there have only been 61 deaths in the whole of Australia. I really do not hope that there are more suicides than those precious 61 people because of the lockdowns.

Looks like the quarantine is working!

Some facts:

The areas that have been carefully isolating, quarantining, and practicing social distancing carefully and somewhat rigidly are doing much better than areas that aren't.

That's a fact.

There is *NO* vaccine.

That's a fact.

There's no cure.

That's a fact.

We do not know enough about this virus and its course and do not have widespread and thorough tracking of it due to the lack of testing......we're simply picking up the pieces of the carnage.

That's a fact.

Because of its ability to remain asymptomatic for the period that it does, people are walking around spreading it where it's not known.

That's a fact.

Despite some who think that age and circumstances make them less susceptible, it kills across the spectrum. Fuck with this thing and you can die. Why take any chances with a cavalier attitude towards it?

I'm stuck at home (safely) - not working - can't maintain a 6' distance per the CDC - can't figure out how to cut/color someone's hair 6' away...sad face
