I'm doing some research for a company that wants to detract detail from very long distances on their transmission towers... cracks and serial numbers from up to 150 feet high. They had an incident with the drone company they hired and no longer want to use drones.

Does anyone have experience with attaching a cell phone to the telescope or binoculars? Is it possible to do this without a drone? Cost not necessarily an issue.

I personally dont have experience as I use drone Or SLRs to take the shots. I can check in my circle to see if anyone else have done this and will share with you.

I'm open to DSLR lens options too. It just seems like my 70-200 wouldn't work, especially if they're wanting instant views...

Just learned about spotting scopes and digiscoping via google. So cool!

You'd be best off with a long prime lens coupled with a teleconverter. A 400mm prime would do, and you could pair it with a 1.4x teleconverter to get you 560mm when/if needed. You would want either the lens, the body or both to be image stabilized.

If not a long prime, you could just go old school with helium balloons.
