Hey guys, been a while. Took a big break but with all that's happening I'm back in the world of photography.

I just fixed my PC (Busted HD) and installed everything. The learning curve is real...again.

The question:

I have all my RAW files on my drive D. I have a fresh install of Windows and Lightroom on Drive C. I thought that importing would just bring the files into the app and leave the data where it is but this isn't the case. I was wondering, how do I get Lightroom to see the files and editing them on Drive D while leaving them there and not importing them into drive C.

I actually didn't realize I was bringing them over to drive C until I got a message (Halfway through bringing in my files). I checked Google but I keep seeing older versions of Lightroom. This version I have now looks nothing like what I was using before. Photoshop feels uncomfortable now too as I haven't sat editing in what seems like ages.

Any help?

So, first thing is to ensure that you are using "Lightroom Classic" which is the desktop version. When you import, look carefully at the import options, there is an option to import at the current location. Along the ribbon at the top of the application there are choices including "Add" which imports the images at their current location.
