... What am I doing wrong!?

I have attempted to respond several times to prove my original photo for the Body Language Challenge. However, it seem that the EXIF data is being stripped upon my exporting the image from Lightroom 6. When I simply pick the RAW-RAF (fuji format) image from my directory, the image is not displayed on my Mac, so I am unsure whether the image is displayed properly to the administrators. My delay in sending proof is due to my ignorance of the tech, not due to any resistance to responding for the original's request.

I have already been issued a ticket, and I don't even know what that means. Can anyone help walk me through the process before time runs out? Thanks much.

Is what is occurring that you upload the file but the thumbnail of the RAW does not display on the DPC validation page?

There are some RAW formats that don't display the thumbnail once uploaded to the verification page. My Canon RAW's do, but not my Olympus format files. Is this what is happening?

If your Mac is displaying just the filename but isn't showing the image in it's file manager, then I think all that is happening is that the computer does not have a codec installed to be able to read the RAW file directly. Picking the RAW file directly with the file manager is the correct method. This way you are uploading the original file without it being handled by anything else.

For me I grab the original from LR (I'm using Lightroom Classic) I just go to the folder where LR stores the files and I drag and drop it onto my desktop (copy and pasting to the desktop works too) and I submit that for validation. I hope you figure it out

I would send them the original straight from your memory card that you used in your camera.

Don't bother with Lightroom. Just go to where it's stored on your computer. Then Lightroom doesn't have the opportunity to change it.

Take note of the file number in Lightroom (Library Grid view)
Now right click the image and select 'Show In Finder'
A new screen will open with all the original Raw files
Select the correct image by the number you noted above.
Copy and past to Desktop.
Select this image for uploading.

Your welcome.

:)

The P in DPL for these situations stands for Patience. If they know you are showing an effort to provide the original, they tend to be Patient. Good luck!

It's correct that we have patience. We're still working on it. It's good that bside has posted here for help, because there's considerable confusion right now. Hopefully we can get it all worked out. The collective power of DPC is awesome.

Unfortunately, the "originals" you are sending us still time-stamp for the moment you are sending them, not the date they were captured :-( Something is wrong with your whole process. If you actually DID shoot RAW + JPG then somewhere in your LR world exists an unmodified RAW file, but these are not it.

Yes, apparently something must be wrong with my WHOLE process. I've tried the recommendation in this thread as well as I've gone to the original images NOT through Lightroom. I've take a screen shot of those images from the LR Catalog page that clearly shows the time and date stamp as: Aug 9, 2019 @ 4:19pm Where can I send that?

I'll send another proof request and you can upload through that. Weird things are happening for sure.

I’m hearing that you shot both RAW and jpeg. Can you email the original jpeg NOT through Lightroom to yourself? Save it on your desktop.

If that file shows the correct date maybe it would be ok..

More files sent.

The image has finally been validated. Thanks everyone. I hardly know what went wrong. I am almost afraid to win any ribbons in the future!

OK, we have validated you. It shouldn't be this hard :-( In the future please transfer files to your machine with a card reader, drag 'n'drop, THEN you can do your LR import FROM your machine if that keeps your cataloging intact. The originals will still remain untouched in the landing folder.

Thanks for your patience and congrats on your first ribbon! May there be many more :-)

FWIW, my Nikon NEF (RAW) files have never shown a thumbnail when uploading for validation. I just drag n' drop to the block and watch the uploading meter down on the bottom of the page until it states in the validation block that they've received it for validation. Been that way as long as I've shot RAW, which is over a decade.

JPG and use a card reader to drag'n drop originals to a folder on your machine before importing to LR it will not be a problem going forward.

DPC doesn't show thumbnails for my Fuji RAW's either. I usually just upload the .RAW and bobs your uncle.
