Fill Flash was an art of its own back in the day, used mainly to balance out the deep shadow and retain highlight detail it was about 1 stop or so LESS than the camera's
exposure, and should not be too obtrusive, in other words Less is Best. there was a period where the flash became the primary light, the sun was the fill,it was quite a popular thing for a while but didn't really catch on
