So I've been looking all over the internet and it's not very clear as to what a "Minimalist Landscape" is...can we discuss this?

Some pictures have a subject in the FG but it's "minimal" others don't have any subject in the FG...

Can you give me a true "photographic definition" of a Minimalist Landscape...

Will you be looking for a subject or not? It seems to go either way - shrug!!

Subject I guess is important, but negative space is what I look at more. The greater the negative space the more it meets the challenge imho.

I don't necessarily think there has to be alot of negative space, but if the scene is consistent, simple and uncluttered it would satisfy the minimalistic definition.

Yes, I agree too...so you don't think that something has to be in the FG?

I think no subject would be best. It's a great idea for most photographs.

Also, this is a great challenge to enter because of the advantage you'll have over the people who think this is a minimal editing challenge!

Check out the Minimalist Landscape challenge from Jan 29th to Feb 4th 2014 and you will see several excellent images on the first page where the subjects are not minimal nor is there a lot of negative space and yet the images, I feel, still satisfy the challenge.

It's pretty split. Less usual than most challenges.

minimum, meaning...

of a minimum amount, quantity, or degree; negligible.
"the aircraft suffered minimal damage"
synonyms: very little, minimum, the smallest amount of; More
slightest, least, least possible, minutest, tiniest, littlest;
nominal, token, negligible, next to none.

Looking through pass challenges doesn’t represent what is right. They may just have been the best photos at the time. It’s pretty simple there are two words on opposite spectrums minimum and maximum.

It is Minimalist, not Minimal. You are muddying this, Anita
