Sorry for a long break, I have been away. One of the places we visited was St Gallen, a town in north eastern Switzerland near Lake Constance with a very nice old town and a monastery with a grand cathedral, not to mention a breathless library full of 8th - 14th century manuscripts (no photos were allowed there). Even if I am not too keen on baroque, this cathedral was very nice. So what am I grateful for? To those who can believe in God and build such incredible works of art in His or Her name.

I'm grateful for people like Roz who have such amazing macro abilities which in-turn inspire people like me to shoot more insects.

Mariuca mariuca .. I'd like to participate provided I'll wrap my head around the theme since, as I mentioned, I feel that all my life is a song of gratitude. It might end up becoming a "feel good" SC.
Marion jomari .. might not be able to contribute for the middle half of May

thankyou Margaret marnet for trying to get ppl motivated in our gratitude side challenge ..
it could have been a bit confronting or something .. ?? ..
if we're not practiced in the 'art' of gratitude it may not come easily to verbalize those subtle feelings .. let alone represent them in a photograph ..
and when life isnt easy it can be difficult to see what there is to be grateful for ..
but what i've learnt is that you can be grateful for the most simplest of things .. a sunny day .. a rainy day .. a smile from a stranger ... technology .. our photography .. inspiration from other ppl .. a roof over our heads .. food to eat .. clothes to keep us warm .. the internet .. the gift of sight .. our families and friends .. nature .. animals .. our pets .. our ability to make choices .. books .. etc etc etc ..
i renewed every year even when i wasnt active .. as i was grateful for the gift of dpc .. without dpc i dont think i would ever have gone as far as i have with my photography .. not in a 'material' sense .. but because photography has been such a huge part of my life and dpc a great place to stretch and grow ..
so many photos i have created for a challenge or side challenge would never have happened without dpc .. and i know that is true for many ppl here .. photos that have captured a moment in time that could be treasured in our families for years to come ... what do ppl think of first when their homes are threatened by fire or destruction .. photos .. they are our memories ...
anyway .. i ramble .. !! ..
but i'm rather grateful for your post Margaret .. and thankyou for the bit about me working hard to entertain you all .. its actually my pleasure .. so i should be thankyou you .. i love looking at the pictures ppl put in dpc .. :)

Dear Roz and my fellow DPCers,
I am sorry for my limited participation in the gratitude side challenge this month. I started with every intention of posting on a regular basis....Life got really hectic and then it kicked me down with the loss of my big boy Tank. I haven't touched my camera in a week. I can't wrap my head around it right now. I will try harder next time. Thanks for understanding and thank you dear Roz for putting this together.

Tammy tjbel05.. i am so sorry for your loss .. i absolutely loved all the pics you showed us of him over the years .. he was a beautiful boy .. so sad .. :( ..xx..
anyway .. i think a lot of us went into this with good intentions .. including myself ..
but maybe it was too hard a concept to put into pics .. i dont know .. it was for me .. and then life etc got in the way ..
i might start another side challenge .. in july or something .. and one that hopefully appeals to a lot more ppl ..
suggestions would be very welcome ..
i'm not sure what its like for other ppl but these side challenges can be great for motivating me to shoot .. more so even than the 'proper' challenges ..
and Margaret marnet .. yummy .. and thankyou ....
and lol .. i will hold you to that .. !!! .. ;)
its still a couple of days to go in the month .. i might even put in another pic to add the limited number i have already put in . !! .. ;)

i said i'd post another pic ..
and this is from yesterday ..
also i put a whole lot of info in the photographer's comments about what i've been going thru on my computer ..
it might be of some interest to other ppl .. as i have heard some say that they cant get Nik Collection .. they can .. and its pretty cheap ..
i've put link in pic ..
but i am over the moon grateful that something that was causing me major problems has led to a wonderful resolution ..
but that happens a lot in life eh .. :)
