Just curious what others are using that isn't actually meant as a camera bag, but suits the purpose better than a purpose made product for you.

For myself, I like slingbags and have now acquired a modest collection of "tactical style" sling bags that have been decent, but still lacking in some manner. Finally found this fishing sling bag that almost seems made for my mirrorless. Since I travel a lot for work an advantage is that the padded insert removes and goes into my backpack for air travel, while the slingbag packs down flat inside my checked baggage. Accesses from the top and has a bottle holder and tripod straps. (What fishing gear would use those straps?)

I believe both beer and fishing rods are commonly used in that pastime ... :-)

I have a couple of small shoulder bags (i.e. purses) I used for accessory lenses and filters.

I've been known to pack along just a regular ol knapsack. Camera is not attached to any lens, and items of clothing are stuffed in there amongst the lenses etc. Taken as carryon of course.

Usually my coat pocket.

If I carry a bag it's for an umbrella, hat, food and drink.

Interesting that you are using a fishing bag. My actual camera/travel bag is a Billingham Hadley Pro. I've had it for close to 10 years and it's still going strong. A little history about Billingham:

Before Billingham (M Billingham & Co Ltd, to be precise) there was ‘Brady’ and its Gelderburn and Ariel Trout fishing/forage bags. Indeed, the ‘M’ in M Billingham & Co Ltd, Martin, formerly worked for Brady before setting up shop on his own with his own range of fishing bags in 1973. Both Brady and Billingham bags were finding favour with photographers throughout the 1970s, and in 1979 Billingham diversified into producing camera bags. Billingham’s Hadley range of camera bags are direct descendants of fishing bags like Brady’s Gelderburn.

Interesting. I looked up some images of their bags. I can see how the evolution happened. I hadn't heard of that brand before. The style seems similar to Domke, which I also like the appearance of.

The other way around - camera bags, that aren't used for cameras :) Just kidding, the m4/3 system keeps getting bigger and bigger. While I could still fit my "pen" into a big pocket, now I occasionally use this 'grocery bag' again.
But mostly I put a small selection of my gear into one of those foam inserts, which goes into the hand bag/back pack/ etc. of that day's choice.
