I'm in an art teachers group on Facebook (though I've never taught art). I do find many of the discussions interesting. Here's one that was just posted. Couldn't help thinking of our recent "back of the head" challenge . . . and other challenges completely unrelated to portraits. Language shifts are funny things . . .

"My Art 1 high school students are drawing their self portraits using the gridding method. I told them they had to have another student take their profile picture and email it to me so I could print it out for their reference. All of the students sent me front facing pictures. I couldn't understand why. I told them a profile is the side of your face. One of my students said "well your profile picture online doesn't have to be a side view". Haha. That is true. Damn you social media!!!"

That does it. I'm now going to all my social media accounts and changing my profile photos to profile photos.

Sounds like a good challenge topic, actually. Not sure we've ever done that...
