I'll commit to twice a week and will focus on the out-of-the-ordinary things to be thankful for.
By the way, I realized during your original thread that I am actually thankful for my own cynicism as it often helps me get through the day. ;-)

i sorta think it would be unrealistic to expect a photo a day .. altho .. i think just leave it up to everyone how much they feel capable of doing ..
also .. i found it interesting that you find your cynicism helpful .. ;)

These month-long side challenges are great for refining goals, seeing and ability. What I thought I might do, though, is drop by occasionally. Kind of crash the party. If that's okay I'd be....well, grateful.

I couldn't agree more. It's so different from shooting for a regular challenge, in side challenges you have the freedom to just shoot and see what develops (no pun intended) and refine your skills based on what YOU want to do. Commenting is more specific and often gets to the root of the imagery because there are no scores involved here, just honest opinions. I think we take the time to really delve into each posted image and that's a good thing as it shapes how we see and think about things. Don pointed this out in his dissertation on the March SC.

As for how often to post maybe leave this open as some prefer to post more often whereas others may only post when they're able to. So I think that varies per individual. I also think the subject matter will evolve as we get more into this in fact, I think it will be an amazing learning experience.

I did want to add that beings we have the month of April in-between, if anyone wants to post something please consider the Black & White Side Challenge. I started this SC back in July 2009 and it's still alive. I also want to encourage ppl to post Monotone Photography which includes shades of other colors.

You have the freedom to do that in the regular challenges too, as long as you don't have a big investment in your cumulative average.

i really understand the sentiments ..
i have gone thru some very up and down times when it comes to photography ..
from totally obsessed .. to feeling that everything i do is crap ..
one thing i do know .. is that if you have that creative leaning .. feel that it might have gone .. wanting it back .. but are struggling to bring it out ..
then making a decision to just do it .. and doing it .. can activate that part of you ..

i was in that down time .. when i was asked to join the league last year .. so i joined the 'wild things' .. came out with a heap of rubbish .. but it got me into the groove again ..
since then the side challenges and challenges have been wonderful for keeping me in the zone ..
this gratitude side challenge .. is actually freaking me out .. !! ..
then i think .. as long as i try .. what have i got to lose ..
its different for everyone ..

but MAK i think those days are never gone unless you let them .. and kiwinick those juices can be revived if we believe in them enough .. :)

We don't control the juices, but often when we force the flow the juice does seem to pour.
Let's force the flow for gratitude, whatever that means to you.
