It was not sun on my skin that gave me ANGuish. It was exercising in the heat.

I drank a bunch of water all during it, but o think I just got too hot.

I can only be ANGry at myself.

I’m any case, I was all better this morning after sleeping for a long time. THANKS!

Most of my wORD-oriented activity right now is taken up writing limericks for another site. I suppose I can also post them here for comment if I can find the required letter sequence in them. If you're interested in learning some cool new words while having a good laugh go check it out.

Limited ability is a great REAson to join the site -- it's kind of like DPC used to be with interesting challenges and extensive commenting and helpful suggestions ... you actually need approval from four other "workshoppers" before an entry goes into the final public version. You can REAch all of my entries* at this link -- note that this list will include many which are still in the editing process.

*Updated link to show only those which are finalized -- some of them co-written with another participant.

If you want to check out the "best of the best" there look for the "author showcases" link.

They say that our land's antidrug

This mad drug war is hell,
Where you can't even tell
If a soldier's the cop or the thug

Is "The Cow Jumped Over The Moon" a limerick? Maybe we should turn this into a limerick forum.. THUmbs up for that!

No, it's not a LIMerick, but I'll be glad to explain them -- however, in this thread I think they should be optional ...

LIMericks are constructed with a meter (metrical foot) called (appropriately) an "anapest" with two unstressed and one stressed syllable, like this: dah dah DAH

It's five lines long, with a rhyme scheme of AABBA; the first, second and fifth lines have three feet, the third and fourth lines have two, so the generic would be

dah dah DAH dah dah DAH dah dah DAH
dah dah DAH dah dah DAH dah dah DAH
dum dum DUM dum dum DUM
dum dum DUM dum dum DUM
dah dah DAH dah dah DAH dah dah DAH

Over at the "LIMerictionary" they pretty much insist on logical grammar and punctuation and "proper" rhyming, but I don't think that need apply here. However if you find you like it and need an occasional creative break from photography go sign up!

ETA: This is one of my favorites:

Just a few months have passed since the rains
Filled the brambles and branches and canes.
Now some ursine (he's NUDE!)
Makes a mess with his food -—
See the bare bear bear bearberry stains.

You PROfess to be dumb as a brick,
Yet I'm guessing you're pulling a trick.
You'll surprise us, in time,
With a cracking good rhyme
Or a pun which will make us all sick.

I once knew a fellow named Gen
With tricks that outnumbered most men
His rhymes were quite daring
In fact they were baring
What none would dare write with a pen

Anything else up your sleEVE?

Actually you TRY to have 9 syllables in lines 1,2 and 5, but sometimes 8 is OK too.

Here's a link to the limericks related to photography (you can browse by topic) ...

I don't think Gen was suggesting that we change this thread to limericks.

I think that would slow it down even more. I don't have tIME to learn at my old age... :D

And she hit the pop charts with a bANG.
But she hit a high place
When they LICensed her face --
They had thought she would not give a dANG.
