That's one wILD typo -- your piano teacher must have been pretty large to need geographical reference points!

I was wILD about Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus diving for many years. I never heard any tuba players at sea but did get pinged by dolphins and swam with hammerheads.

While you were submerged with all that aquatic wILDlife I'm surprised you didn't encounter any CEPhalopods!

No mention of the murals.. hmm. At any rate, I find them fascinating but perhaps too TENuous a topic to pursue. Onward to more specific topics more ofTEN discussed.. in here, that is.

I was awARE of the murals, but didn't have time this time to cruise around town and cAREfully document them, though I did meet another photographer who has. I will probably be going back in early July, when I should have time for more than recording ...

I've forgotten what a vACAtion is but that could change, just when you least expect it to you're off to parts unknown. ACAdia National Park would be nice for starters.

Speak about CAN-do, I came across a YouTube couple living off-grid in CANadian BC and building a yurt. They are also vegans and grow their own food. Imagine living beneath a CANopy in the wilderness.

I'm with you on the nudist situation. Like you sAID, I'm not wild enough for that either, LOL. But, I wanted to let you know that today we were photographing these tiny beetle-like insects black w/white spots over at the Nature Center in the milkweed patch. I've been looking online for what they were and it turns out they're spotted lantern fly nymphs which is an invasive species. Yikes! Get out the RAID!

Hey Roz.. have you ever heard of the nymph tick? It's so small you need a magnifying glass to see it and it does carry the Lyme disease. Anyway, I have FAIth in the fact the insect bites I've gotten while out shooting bugs are benign and only require some hydrocortizone salve. The adult spotted lanternfly is FAIrly photogenic colored red, yellow, black with white spots and stripes. They're about the size of a skipper moth. We're advised to kill them but they're so pretty I choose not to. See: https://extension.psu.edu/spotted-lanternfly

My objECTive is to educate and inform others.. there are thousands of insects so if we can learn about just a few that's considered an accomplishment. One reason I mentioned the lanternfly is I found one by the glass sliding door track to my patio and was amazed how beautiful it was and shot a pic of it w/my cell phone. I later found out about them being invasive. I believe we need to protECT our foliage and fruit trees if there is endangerment but so far there are no signs of that here. If I had a garden I might be more protECTive against lanternflies.

yes .. being PROactive is always a good thing .. there lots of animals and insects that are brought into australia that are a threat to our native wildlife .. it does not go well to PROcrastinate in dealing with them if they do pose a PROblem .. cane toads are just one species that are wreaking havoc here .. i think they were brought in to deal with a native beetle .. now they are thinking of introducing something from another country to deal with the cane toads .. !!

Often when they introduce something as a way of controlling something else it backfires. Being proactive is one way of dealing with these things. I read how the cane toads are taking over in Australia and here in Florida. In fact, dogs are at risk due to the toxicity of the toads. I hope Katee knows to stay away from them.
On the other hand, the lanternfly I found here at hOME was more of a learning experience, the colors were eye-catching! See pic:

not to be predictable .. but i lOVE the amazing designs and colours of that lanternfly ..
and i'm not OVEly worried about katee re the cane toads as they arent in my area as yet .. they are spreading tho .. hopefully they will never come here ..
here's something tho .. we have a resident red-belly black snake .. it has set up its home in a little crack in the concrete under my porch .. and i see it basking in the sun sometimes when i go out there .. it slides in under the porch when it hears me .. i have thought of phoning WIRES to come out and remOVE him .. they would then release him in a place where there are less ppl where he could rOVE to his hearts content .. :).. |
