I just kept thinking this landscape image by crik reminded me of James Bond movies! ... while the image from jomari made me wonder if the characters could function as "bad guys" so to speak in such a scene ....

originals: and

For this one I wanted a heat-camera affect which lead me to this easy instructable.

I realized that when this first started, I was going to edit all of my images before looking at the others (so I'd come up with original ideas).

So, today, I found so many images that I'd never seen that were done before I started commenting as we go along.

I was the only commentor on most of them, so I assume this is what everyone did.

Go look at them and comment when you have time? (none of them are by me... so this is not a selfish request. :D )

Is March 9 the cut off date for posting in this competition? This means then that we have passed half way mark and a lot of images still didn't get many contributions. For example, my image got only 4 contributions while there are 21 participants.

+1 I appreciate the four contributions that I have. I see now that my entry was lame. I didn't see this competition the last time it was played, so had no idea what to enter for edits. I asked Tate to tell me if it wasn't a good one and he put this one in. Sorry!

Same here but I did not anticipate the direction this PPChallenge would take, it was different last time.

Another composite idea from Bear's images (including some from portfolio):

Please realize not everyone is posting their entries yet. I wasn't going to post my edits, but I wanted the other participants who we haven't heard from to see we don't have to use expert editing or obvious expert editing. The majority of mine are standard editing rules. Lydia and Margaret, I'll be working on both of your images soon but I will most likely be using standard editing rules. It's a post processing challenge, not a strictly expert editing challenge, right? I expected Ken to go with expert compositing all the way, same with Mark...they are so good at it. I wasn't expecting it from everyone. Previous ppchallenges were not so heavily into compositing. Posting processing is more than that.

Johanna, you only have four even after the new image? I thought you had more, but I didn't go back and count.

I agree, Rachel! I just LOVE to do wild stuff, but that doesn't mean it has to be done.

I've really enjoyed your edits.

I guess the fun is over as this is my final entry for the PPChallenge:

Tomorrow I am starting to learn Compositing as part of March Side Challenge! :)

Looking forward to the results of this challenge.

I just want to check in regarding the timeline of this PPChallenge ...
The 3 week mark will be Saturday, March 9th. At that point (or earlier) please make sure you post ALL of your edit or that all of your edits have already been posted.
To make it fair, I may just lock this thread and open another - thoughts on that ?

At that point we will need to have each photographer choose their top 3 edits (of their own original image only). I think 3 days (or less) is a fair timeline for that process.

I will tally the totals and we will have winners!

So to reiterate:

03-09: All edits shared
03-12: Top 3 edits chosen by each photographer.
Shortly after: Winner announcements!

hey Tate ..
re this bit .. To make it fair, I may just lock this thread and open another - thoughts on that ?
do you mean that you would lock this thread on the 9th March .. :)

edit to say ..
also .. i think most of us has created a folder where we are putting all the edits we have done ..
and shown the original photo in the comments on the one we have edited ..
but some ppl havent done this ..
do we have to look thru this entire thread looking for the ones of our own that other ppl have edited ..
am i missing something ..

Having not participated in this SC before this one, I'm wondering if there's a way to consolidate photo edits of each original into one place. This would assure that the orignal photographer sees ALL edit's of their orignal without scrolling through the whole thread. Did I miss something?

Yes I am thinking we all need to have our images here by March 9th.

I will create a new thread for the purpose of sorting the final entries by original image to make it easier for each photographer to vote and to make sure we don't miss any.
Then each photographer can post their 3 favorites.

LMK if any of this doesn't make sense, I'm working on 5 hours of sleep.

I like what you've come up with for deadlines, Tate.

I know when there's a tie for a ribbon in the "real challenges", that ribbon is skipped.

I'd like to propose that if there's a tie, we give out two (or as many as tied) for that ribbon and still give out the other ribbons.

For instance, if two people tie for BLUE, then we give out both BLUES, and the rest of the ribbons. On a "real challenge", they'd give out two blues, skip the red and then give out a yellow.

But, more ribbons is good, right?

What says everyone?

In the new thread I will post each original image next to all the edits for convenience.
In the case that something slips by and I miss one, I'm hoping you folks will let me know ;)
