Hi all, sorry i've been a bit absent from DPC recently. Been a bit hectic. Anyway, i've just posted up my 2018 in Review weddings post on my website where, same as last year, I've chosen 200 of my favourite photos from the year. Thought you'd be interested in a look. I launched a new website/look/logo etc this year as well. My apologies if anyone has problems viewing the new page. It doesn't like older browsers etc unfortunately.

2018 In Review here...

This year was all Canon which i'm sticking with from for the time being. I like the cameras and there are some lovely lenses. I've got two 5D Mark 3's and a 5D Mark 2 as back up. Took a while to sort out my lenses but i'm getting there. I've got the 16-35mm f2.8L Mark 3 which is stunning so i'm happy there. Most of the year was also shot with the 50mm f1.2L and the 85mm f1.2L both of which were lovely in their own way but had aspects I didn't like much so I ended up selling both and getting the newer 35mm f1.4L Mark 2 which is an absolutely fabulous lens which I've totally fallen in love with. The 100mm f2.8L macro is great and I started using it as a short tele for portraits to twin with the 35mm and I really like it for that. Will maybe pick up a 50mm (the new Tokina) and something longer later this year (135mm or 200mm) and then i'm all set.

As much as I have a serios dislike for wedding pictures, I looked with interesat to yours. YOU bring freshness and stay away from a lot of formalism. The kids are a delight and you introduced even a dog, a bit bored by all the fuss but photogenic nevertheless.
Good luck in the 2019 and keep the momentum because it seems to allow you to enjoy a freelance life. Looking forward for all your photo work.

The image of that guy with the grey beard, dark hat, and piano keyboard necktie captures my interest immediately. Wonderful character study.

Nice work Clive! I like how you approach a wedding from different perspectives, not just as a portrait photographer. You pay attention the details that would be forgotten without your images. Your candid photographs, of people conversing or focussed on their preparation, reveal so much. I can see why your are in high demand. Congratulations!

Some of these are so impeccable due to the uniqueness that the subject had. Take for example This one.

But for sure my favorite from the bunch is this one hands down.

So much character.

Great collection! Thanks for sharing!

That sort of social documentary approach is definitely my favourite part of the job photographically. Really, my actual favourite 200 photos of the year would mostly be people stood outside smoking and talking or women in big hats bottle feeding babies whilst chaos is all around.

Yea, that’s definitely a favourite portrait. That dude used to live in the same village as me and it was a local wedding. Smartest I ever saw him.

Yep, that's the sort of thing I like best. One of the reasons why I like to use a wide angle for much of the day. Somewhere round a 20/21mm. I like the big hats at weddings - particularly when they obscure the whole head like in that first shot. They appeal to my love of the absurd. They can be a nightmare for more formal group photographs though.

I love the hundred year old baby and the allegorical Google search. The hand through the ring light! great mix of chaotic candids full of life and careful symbolic still lives. I like that you make couples stand in front of walls and grant them the vulnerability of wondering why are they there?

you've achieved grigrigirl levels of wedding photography and your range is tremendous.

only one dog? oh well, the children and babies make up for it. I especially liked the dancing chicken.
