Looking for advice....

I recently purchased a Nikon D750. I didn’t know I was going to purchase a Full Frame camera (it was a ding dong deal!!!) so I didn’t do the amount of research I would normally have done for the FF.

Here is what I’ve discovered (I actually knew this but didn’t know how it would effect me) a few of my lenses have to be changed (deep sigh). Of course 2 of my very favorite lenses. 🤦🏼‍♀️

One is my Landscape Lens Tokina 12-24mm f/4. What do you recommend as a replacement. Here are a few of my requirements.

f/2.8 (or lower)
Lowest mm possible
$1000 (ish)
SHARP - did I say SHARP!!!
Warranty

I use my current one for both landscape and indoors (churches etc) to it needs to be WIDE.

And I’m willing to go used but the price has to offset my giving up a longer warrantee - ie Tamron has a 6 year warranty. To get a 6 month used vs 6 year new - is a deal breaker for me. (I’ve purchased from KEH for several of my lenses and LOVE them!!!)

Share your examples...tell me what you LOVE about your lens.

TIA

You said you want W...I...D...E?? If you don't mind going prime, and you don't mind manual focus, the Rokinon 14/2.4 is outstanding. I use this one on Canon FF, and it rocks even for night sky work, which is extremely demanding.

FWIW, 16-35mm is about the same coverage on FF as your 12-24 was on the crop sensor, so that's a range that has a lot of good lenses. Talking about new lenses, I don't think you can get an f/2.8 in your price range. Nikon has a corking good 17-35mm f/2.8 but it costs nearly 2 grand new. KEH has a bunch of them at under 1K, some a lot under, so maybe go looking there.

That is definitely a contender Sarah as is

Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 @ $629 New 3 Year Warranty
Tokina 15-30mm f/2.8 @ $899 New 3 Year Warranty
Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 @ $1,199 New 1 Year Warranty
Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 @ $899 New 6 Year Warranty
Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8 @ $599 New 6 Year Warranty

Nikon Lenses seem to be out of my price bracket completely unless y'all think it's totally worth saving up for...but their warranty is also 5 year

One more question...do you feel that it's worth purchasing the extended warranties? It doesn't extend the time it's just double coverage??? Has anyone ever had to use the extended warranty? Is it a hassle?

I'm going to look at the Rokinon Lense closer - Thank you Fritz. But I think that I would prefer to have a little zoom to it...maybe I'm wrong...
