This thread...

At one point I almost hurt myself laughing.

It's one of those threads that things kind of go off the rails in a funny and weird way that I rarely see other places. What could have been a place and reason for someone to get their nose out of joint just ended up being hilarious.

DPC is the reason I'm no longer stuck in a 9 to 5 job. I really couldn't be happier with the way things turned out and if I had never found DPC, I wouldn't be here. Sounds cheesy, but it's true.

I learned almost everything about photography from this site and it’s users and therefore renewed my membership even though I never get a chance to check it out anymore :)

DPC is awesome 'cuz it has kept me from moldering away into a total couch potato, and I've met a lot of really interesting people, and it's given me something constructive to do in my retirement (i.e. help run the place) :-)

Oh yeaaah, DPC is awesome. Awesome like heroin.

You'd have just found some other pastime to blow your paycheck on. Golf, classic cars, motorcycles, real drugs, band camp, BDSM gear, etc...

I think DPC is awesome because of the talent of the members and because in each challenge you're presented with images different than what you imagined or submitted but no less applicable to the challenge and it makes you think differently and broadens your perspective and makes you better.

What she said. When I go out shooting I have the current challenges at least in the back of my mind, if not at the forefront.

And I've met some truly awesome people through DPC, who don't think it's weird at all to take 20+ photos of the same flower to get just the right angle for the light LOL. Plus, of course, I've learned to really study my images to find the processing errors before anyone else sees them. Not that that translates into high scores all the time, but I have a much better idea when I've gotten a really good image of an interesting subject and processed it well. Or when I've gotten an image that has niche appeal, where I'm happy if just one other person sees what I saw. Or when I've taken an image that probably only appeals to me, but I love it anyway. DPC has made me ... think more about the images I present to the world. I can have people drooling over an image on FB, only to have people on DPC find the technical or subject aspect I should have paid more attention to. And I learn from that. I like learning.

DPC is awesome because there is no LIKE button and none of the associated over the top sugary fluff that goes with it. DPC is REAL.

what he said, pretty much. wouldn't be rich, but the house might be clean, and more spacious (less files).

DPC is awesome because it provides a forum for me to improve my photography and editing skills. The feedback is great but I also push myself to try harder as I see the submissions of the talented folks around me.
