My 'something old' outtakes
Critiques welcomed.

Karen, the photo of the Brownie camera is good. I actually like ot more than your pharmacy photo because the challenge topic is transported better. The Brownie was a famous camera and changed the world of photography (that's what I read on websites. I was not born back then ;-)) The pharmacy photo needs the title to be understood.

Terry, I like "forever young". Can't say anything negative about it. The "old grave stone" could have used some dramatic light from the side which would create more contrast and highlighting the engraving.

My only outtake for "Corporate World" is smash capitalism. Not so good. Didn't even want to put it on the gallery.

This is one of my outtakes this week. I entered something completely different.

My OUTTAKES... any of which would have been better than what I submitted :)

Oooh, it looks almost exactly like my Grandaddy's old barn.

Hey Angel, call me.

Karen, I love the picture of the camera. The rocker is nice too, It would have been great if you could get an older person to sit in it. :)

Terry, I really like the "forever young" photo.

Jmseltzer, great pictures of the watch and the old barn. How old is that watch?

I always change to the wrong one.

That watch belonged to my great grandmother... it was made in 1899 according to the serial number on the movement...

What a great hand-me-down!

I researched this watch a little over the weekend trying to find out how much it is worth and haven't gotten any info back yet...

The casing is 22k gold and there are over 2oz of gold in the casing... it's gold value alone is over $600 but I think the collector value is probably a little higher...

Wow, That's great. Did you check a book store or are you looking online? Was the watch a gift to your grandma?

I have been looking online... I do not know how my great grandmother obtained this watch... I only wish I had that story :)

Here are my outtakes from the "Something Old" challenge. I think maybe they are better than the one I submitted. I dunno...maybe they wouldn't have been too popular either. I'd appreciate any comments or critiques. Thanks!

Here's two versions of my outtake for "Something Old," one in color and one in grayscale. However, I was pretty sure it would be considered "saved by the title" so submitted something else entirely. And of course I forgot to even try a shot of another subject -- I'll post that later...

Well, here's a few of my outtakes. Please feel free to critique them. Each of them was contender for submission from one minute to the next. Nice to know I'm not the only one that feels they consistently select the wrong one....

mcmurma - I like the first two the best. I especially like the angle that you used to shoot the books.
They are all a touch dark, though.

Thx TerryGee,

I must say I enjoyed your Forever Young. It was my fave.

Also, congrats on your finish in last weeks challenge. It was my favorite representation of "money down the drain," which as you know was a popular theme last week.

Thanks, I am thrilled with the top ten finish - probably won't see that again.
I am mad at myself for not staying with 'forever young'.
I made a last minute change to go with something safer which is not doing all that well. My problem is I read the threads too much.

Well, dont beat yourself up too bad. Just because several of us prefer that photo over the gravestone, there's no guarantee we would not prefer your current submission (whatever it is) over Forever Young.

There's just no accounting for it.

John,
I really like the PrecisionMechanics picture. I'm curious as to how much you enhanced the pic post exposure? I don't have Photoshop, just the CAMEDIA program that came with my Olympus C3000 and I'm wondering how much this is limiting me. I would love to see the pic before Photoshop.

(Now for the suck-up part) Thanks for all the time that you put into this site. I look forward to your critic of my photo every week; you always give solid constructive comments.
