Now that the Nikon D100 has been discontinued, does anyone have any info on what will be replacing it?

where did you learn about the D100 being discontinued? it doesn't surprise me as fast as Canon and Nikon are making camera's, but I would like to read the info.

I am new to this site..but I am about to buy a D70, and speaking with the girl at the Camera store, she said the same thing. It was discontinued..but they still make them, just in limited quantites.

She Also said Nikon is coming out with a camera after x-mas. $3000+

yeah the only "new" camera nikon has announced so far is the d2x, their newest flagship camera...
given nikon's usual pattern of technology replacement, we should see a replacement to the d200 coming sometime soon as well.

If a salesperson told you about a new Nikon camera soon to be released, I assure you that she was only speculating. A close friend of mine worked for Nikon USA’s marketing department in NY. Not only did he (and I assume anyone else who would get advance knowledge) sign a confidentiality agreement that forbid him from releasing future product info even to retailers, but Nikon USA ‘s marketing department wasn’t informed about new product until mere days before Nikon Corporate announced the product to the press. This makes sense given that it takes 2-3 months from the time of product announcement to product introduction in the States.

But if it true that the D100 is discontinued, I’m just glad I sold mine on eBay last week ;-) (It had taken almost 20,000 images anyway)
