It seems the viewing screen on my Sony DSC-P52 camera is busted and I am not sure what to do about it. I used the camera one day and the next day it wouldn't work (and I am pretty sure it wasn't dropped). When I turn the camera on (any mode) it appears with a black circle and a mostly white screen with cracks on it (the cracks are on the inside of the lense). The camera itself still works, it's just the viewing screen that doesn't.

Is it worth it to get it fixed or can it even be fixed? If it can, would it be better to send it to the company or have a local camera shop fix it? Any input is appreciated, thanks! :)

I think the P-52 may be discontinued. You probalby need to contact Sony about a repair job on that camera. The P-72 is $199 new so I'm guessing that buying a new camera would be a better solution than having a P-52 repaired. Your repair cost will likely approach the cost of a new camera.

Almost sounds like my case with Kodak. My camera bumped the table while it was on my wrist and the LCD cracked. I have a warranty good to Nov. 3 but it may or may not be covered. I got lucky walmart gave me a refund. With the shipping and repair cost and what it might be if warranty wont cover it the cost was $48.00 just for shipping either way if I allowed them to fix it or not that was only 1 way from Kodak back to me. Maybe you should look at getting another camera. Hope it all works out for you and noone else has a problem like this.

That particular repair is not worth it. If you are out of the 90 days Sony will require a $249 deposit.

Cracked LCD screen repairs start at $190 on ALL digital camera models. Busting the LCD is not a good thing. It's also not covered under manufacture warrenty.
