Just trying to make sure I am interpreting the flag rule correctly.

Should we elect to use two images, the division between them can only be horizontal or vertical and a diagonal, jagged, or curved lines are not permissible?

I read it as horizontal or vertical arrangements only, which rules out a diagonal, but I don't necessarily see a requirement for the division to be strictly North/South or East/West (i.e. curved or jagged lines running top to bottom or side to side seem to be within the scope of the rules).

That said, I don't see any variance from the straight being a DQ-able offense, and instead would expect to see an answer that expresses the spirit of the rule with an allowance for the voter to decide if it's far enough outside the box to warrant lower numbers.

The intent of the flagged rule is to get the images to be side-by-side or over-under, without overlap, as a classic diptych would be. You are correct that a diagonal division would be allowable. What's NOT allowable is image-within-image or overlap between images, to name two obvious examples.

never mind ... I don't want to accidentally expose someone's idea.
