Does anyone here live in Austria or travel there frequently?
I am planning a trip there in September and I want a SIM card for my iPad so I can have internet access when I am there.
Where would I buy that? I will be in Salzburg first then Vienna.
Thanks! |

Normally you can buy at the post office, otherwise in one of the shops of the providers. Maybe this link might be helpful (although a few years old).

When you arrive by plane, you also have a good chance to buy one on the airport.
Good luck!
Adding: I also asked a Dutch guy who organises winter sport trips to Austria for > 20 years now and he always uses local sim cards as well. Keep you posted.

My friend always buys his sim card at the Media Markt (big electronics super store): it provides unlimited internet access and it costs 30 Euros for 3 weeks. After those 3 weeks you can extend it for another 3 weeks if you want.
Address Media Markt in Salzburg: Alpenstraße 107, 5020 Salzburg

Most of the popular places in Vienna are covered by free WiFi.
I was there recently (3 nights) and the free WiFi coupled with some 3G data roaming was good enough for me. My operator is T-Mobile and has some interesting data packages for roaming within the group.

Thanks. Free wi-fi will be nice when out and about, but I update my blog daily and I'd like to post some pics to facebook so I'd like access when at my hotel. From reading reviews of the hotels I have booked it seems that hotel wi-fi is not very reliable.

Oh, and I'm in Canada. I'd pay a fortune for data on my cellphone plan in Austria. |
