My Nikon D7000 has always given me trouble with prime lenses. Even with AF Fine tune set to -20, my 50mm f/1.4 was unusable, so I started searching for options.
Estimated cost of getting it fixed at Nikon Service center was $279 + shipping, used D7000 is worth about the same!

After several hours I came upon first fix. Although people discuss this at dpreview.com and other websites, this does not help with back focus problem!!

Second fix was less scary since it did not involve rotating screws close to the sensor, so I gave it a shot and now I can use my 50mm and other lenses.

For those who are still using this old horse (may work on new cameras as well) and having trouble beyond AF Fine tune fix, here is the video describing the process - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt_EUkbgd2k
