My attempt using a wonderful PS action I got from sher9204 called Gothic Glow... it's very cool. I toned it down for this one, though.

Posting from which site?
Site: ImageHost

From the GetStarted Manual:

5. Open the image folder which contains the images you have uploaded. You will notice the URL (internet address) of each image. Copy and paste this URL into your web browser, or click on the thumbnail images to view their full-size versions.

You will need two URLs to make a complete link at DPC:
- URL of full-sized image display page
- URL of the thumbail

You know how to get the first. Get the URL of the thumbnail by right-clicking on it (Windows) and go to Properties; the URL to the thumbnail will be displayed for you to copy.

To make the link at DPC, use the InsertHyperlink button and paste in the URL to the big image page. When you go OK and are prompted for your text, use the InsertImage tags (type in manually; [img][/img]) with the URL to the thumbnail between the image tags.

This should display the thumbnail in the forum thread, but when you click on it, you are linked to the full-sized page.

You're welcome -- glad that worked. I guess that site re-sizes all the thumbs into a square?

How reliable are they ... it's certainly looks like a good deal.

Do u think my lion looks younger than the original?
I cloned him and turned the grass brown for a more African look!

What's stopping you from uploading your own thumbs? Just a thought.

Maybe there should be a challenge one day where they give the base image, straight from the camera and everybody processes the way they like, entering the post-process image for the vote, could be processing according to basic rules or a free for all with no limits on the use of manipulation software...just a thought..

This post brought home to me the importance of learning curves. I use theGIMP as a primary photo editor and curves is a little different than photoshop and psp but after a day of fiddling around and finally understanding what the heck an s-curve is I am blown away. My thanks goes out to the origional poster for starting this thread which made me bite the bullet and learn something.

What a great thread.

There are some fantastic reworks of the original here.

It really illustrates how many different ways a photo can be processed,, and end up with a variety of end results, all looking very different to each other, but each fantastic in its own way.

I'll throw a little b&w spin in the mix...
Levels adjustment layer
Curves adj. layer
Brightness & contrast adj. layer
Greyscaled and adjusted levels again
a little USM and ever-so-slight burning around the edges and voila...

This is so very true Natator. I wouldn't be able to choose one I like best but I sure have some great ideas of things to try. Now if I can just find some time to do it. Sheesh.. been a busy week.
