As many of you are aware, it's possible to submit proof files on your images in advance, while voting is going on. Usually this is done because you won't be in town when voting finishes, so you want a proof file to be stored with us in case... But every now and then people send proofs in early because they realize they may have done something wrong in editing or submission, and they assume we'll DQ the image if that's the case. Which we would, EXCEPT:

SC never SEES those proof files unless the photo comes up for validation in the normal run of things. We CAN see them, but we'd have to search all the entries one by one to see which ones already have proof loaded, which of course would mean we couldn't VOTE, so we don't do that.

My long-winded point being; if for some reason you doubt your legality and submit a proof file during voting, you need to let us know via a ticket so we can check it out.

Ach O.K. I'm sorry.... I thought it went straight into the distribution channel, with my sealed envelope of crisp new notes.

What do I know.. Hehe

Thanks for educating us so patiently.

Yet another reason to upload your original beforehand is to make sure you don't delete it by mistake. Some have voiced an objection to having to keep their originals for more than a week. This would resolve that issue.

+1

I usually submit the originals after submission, because I do regular moves from my pc to my cloud hard drive, and I don't always have access to it, so better safe than sorry (I wish DPC would need my originals more often, it would be a good sign :) )

Thanks, Bear, for the info.

I always thought that... I was making more work for SC if I wanted to submit beforehand... for any reason.

I love educashun. :D

A bit off-topic, but I read and enjoy many of these threads even though I rarely comment. I WOULD like to say to Bear....you're amazingly patient and tolerating, articulate in your answers and seem like just a Really Good Guy all-around with lots of integrity and somebody I'd probably like to know (as long as we're not talking guns ;-) ). Just wanted to say "thanks" on behalf of anyone who feels the same.
