dude.....you have one of the best cameras out there. I have a rebel and have done six weddings, 5 senior shots, sold some prints from vacation(Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, San Diego). i have well paid for it and then some. get out there and advertise(flyers, ads in paper)...or word of mouth have worked for me.....

were did you sell your prints? I have some pretty good ones I would like to sell.

P.S. Thanks for the encouragement.

i didn't sell them on DPCPrints, but just around town and put some in art gallery. Tried to give some to friends but they actually paid me for them. give it a shot.....go to different coffee shops or other places like that, and ask if you can put some pics on the wall. had a friend do that and he sold all his prints within 2 weeks.....good luck

I good way to make money is working at kids sporting events. I have a friend who takes shots of highschool kids playing baseball and soccer and he can make a couple hundred on a good weekend. It not the most creative thing to do but its a money maker. Check out the following link: //www.make-money-with-digital-camera.com/

Parents will pay 10.00 for 1 5x7 of their kid playing ball.

where are you located?

Sounds like you're stressed! You're doing a bit better than I am I guess, I use my photography money to PAY bills. Ugh.

Anyway, if you just want to make money, and make it NOW, try stock photography. You can search DPC for threads about it, I've never done it, but I know people who make extra money that way.

I find shooting small events that aren't covered by other photographers reasonably lucrative. Pick an event, like dog trials, ring up the organiser, and if they don't have a photographer turn up. I've found most participants will be happy just to see some interest in the activity, and are normally overjoyed with photos.

See below. :)

Be positive! I know what you mean about money. Its so tight around here it don’t even cover bills sometimes. With me being out of work all year because of illness, wife the only one working, and we also have two kids [teens]. It’s hard! Look on the bright side you have a camera that will allow you, with your abilities to make money with your photography. Good luck, I feel your pain.

Well I'm doing an arts fair in jersey with some friends this weekend. We're not taking it seriously, but I've bought tons of cheap frames and gotten lots of those "join now get 15 free prints" from printing sites, so it'll be all profit if I sell any! (kinda, but yay my friends are paying for the table!)

But it's my first crack at going public ahaha so whatever happens happens and I'll just be glad for trying!

Good luck!

yeah, you do well at stock melking. I am sitting at a measly $13.50 on dreasmtime. I have 1/4 of the images that you do i guess.. which makes a difference... but anyhow.. yeah.. it can make a couple bucks.

I think that many people underestimate the technical skills required to do weddings...judging by the amount of people that want to make money off it.

I have great respect for wedding shooters, working in conditions that are almost impossible, having to deal with very specific expectations...giving very little creative room... and now having to deal with all the "discount" shooters out there.

Here's my thing, in 2004 it's a quasi impossibility to make money off photography...everyone and their cousins are photographers now.. I make money, I even make good money...but that is because I developped a niche. I think photography is like all other art forms... your lucky if you sell.

Well Gil I guess a lot of people are doing the Impossible, I make money off Photograhpy and so do a lot of People I know!

Maybe you should try it!

I'm not saying there is no money to be made, I'm saying it has become a niche market where "general" photography has less of a place.

I also wonder about the necesscity of this comment: "Maybe you should try it!" care to define?

You could have a least been Positive...:)
