Like a coach who pushes the athlete farther than the athlete even thought was possible but came out all a new. If we have one extreme, why not the other.

eta: Anyone remember when we couldn't clone out sensor dust in Basic? Kids these days ;) The amendment to that was the best one ever made.

+10

If we get to do it ALL sometimes (Expert)... seems like getting to make it happen with "none" (without any PS intervention) is fair enough.

That said, I really hate Minimal challenges.

*grin*

What's wrong with having the option? You aren't forced to crop but some would like the option.

+1

Sometimes a step forward or back will drop you over a cliff or under a bus.

If indeed such is the case, then I would strongly recommend that an eye examination is in order. The problem lies not with the inability to crop but rather not being aware of one's surroundings.

Art will be contacting all the "aye"-sayers shortly, as he is contracted out to me to BURN ALL YOUR VILLAGES TO THE GROUND!

Nothing personal...

Isn't there another part of the change in rules that we can fight overhave civilized discussions about? Minimal cropping was nice, but I lost.

I shall be using the renowned Daisy-Petal method of deciding when to crop a minimal image from now on [actually only from after the rule change, I'm not a maverick]:
He crops me
He crops me not
He crops me
He crops me not.....etc

So everyone is happy, the choice is which ever you choose.

I think it would be fun to see what we can really do with no editing. This will show us what we need to work on. I do like the new rules.

For what it's worth.

Although I TOTALLY, TOTALLY... HATE no editing challenges (or even minimally editing of photos), I do agree that... if we have "free for all" in editing... we ought to have the choice to enter (or not! ha!) with a "no editing at all" challenge.

Fair enough.

I vote for an editing ruleset that allows for absolutely no editing. (or... only editing out dust bunnies)

It's not that I don't like rabbits... but...

You know what I'm saying. :D

That's exactly what we HAVE with the current Minimal Editing ruleset... The Fine Arts challenge rolling out tonight is one of those.

As soon as you state, "or only editing...", it no longer is "no editing".

Technically you can't say "no editing" and then require resizing to <=1200px and <700K. After all the rancor over cropping in Minimal I'm surprised the dust spot stuff never got any play. I find that far more of an "edit" than cropping.

Did you never clean your color slides before projecting them? I sure did...

Did you never clean your sensor before shooting? I sure did... ;)

Yeah, but the analogue for Minimal Editing is "it's like shooting color slides back in the day" so... Of course it's nice to have a clean sensor, I clean mine regularly, but nevertheless dust happens, and it can happen mid-shoot so you have no chance to clean, no knowledge it's even happened until the Big Reveal...

So, if I'm reading the rules correctly this panorama would be legal in Standard editing. Right?

Why or why not?

Issues of "legality" are always easier to answer if we can see the (resized) originals for comparison, and if you list the editing steps.

Is this simply stitched wide-angle originals? If so, probably legal ... regardless a pretty interesting effect I'll have to try ... I think I even have some "dome" images ... :-)

Without seeing the original source images we can't say for sure, but yeah, it probably IS legal. In the new world of DPC Editing Rules, we're counting on the voters to let us know what we like. We have, if you will, "deregulated" the editing economy :-)

Meaning we have about eight more months of blissful ignorance before the bubble bursts ... ;-)

Simply stitched together originals with a stroke around the resulting image and a black background.
