It interests me where people live or work.

I lived and worked at Ascot racecourse for 13 years, now I work at Tittenhurst Park, the home where John Lennon shot the video for Imagine.

Anyone else live or work somewhere famous??

Wyatt Earp use to be the deputy marshall of the town I currently live in. Not sure if that is famous enough or not.

We don't but our son lives in Taos which is about 65 miles from our house. He saw Julia Roberts at the grocery store buying produce a couple of weeks ago. She was chatting on her cell phone while shopping.

Interestingly enough, I was born and am living now in the small town in which Wyatt Earp began his law enforcement career as town constable. It is also where he met, married and buried his first wife.

David

/edit: Oops, my wife pointed out that I forgot to mention Harry S. Truman was born here as well.

I live in a little town called Briarcliff Manor, in New York - Used to belong to Briar Hall Country Club - 10 minutes (if that) from my house, had my Bat-Mitzvah there...It's now Trump National Golf Course.

A lot of the New York Yankees also live about 15 minutes-30 minutes from me, between Harrison, and the City.

Well, not much fame around this part of NE Texas, but I live in Hunt County, the birthplace and hometown of Audie Murphy, WWII's most decorated soldier, and Greenville, my town, is the hometown of the Christian band Mercy Me, and the alternative (now-defunct) band Radish (and their now-solo lead singer Ben Kweller), and residence of country star Collin Raye.

I work in Terrell, TX, at Terrell High School, which is probably most famous for a graduate named Eric Bishop, now known to the world as Jaimie Foxx. He is a really nice guy and comes back to town regularly to see the kids at school, motivate, and give back time and financial support to the community. Our high school is also home to current Denver Bronco standout Kenoy Kennedy (and his two younger brothers who are up-and-coming athletes), and Sterling Harris, who I think is with the Cleveland Browns (but I'm not sure...that's what I heard last summer during training camp).

Neither town is famous in and of itself, but we have some great people who came from these parts. :o)

I worked at a Motel 6 when in college and Michael Keaton came in and begged me to use the manager's bathroom. I told him to go to the gas station across the street but he started begging and the manager came out and got all flustered that a celeb was here and she ushered him in to the back office. Afterwards she talked about it for days. I'm surprised she didn't have the damn toilet bronzed.

I live in Wilmslow, England, where Alan Turing lived, the inventor of such computing and AI fundamentals as the Turing Machine and the Turing test.

I live in a town called Pudsey in Yorkshire, England. I don't really think that it's famous "as such", but the name of the town was used for a little bear (named by someone who used to live here). They called the bear 'Pudsey Bear' and it was used as a mascot for the "children in Need" Appeal. The appeal runs each year - and is televised. It's aim is to raise funds for children. History of Pudsey is that the folk here (Yorkshire Folk) used to say that Pudsey is where the Treacle Mines are (not sure if other people might know what Treacle is?). They also used to say that Pudsey is where the "Ducks fly backwards" (Yorkshire sense of humour?).

Thanks for all that info, it is amazing how we all take it for granted about where we live until someone asks!

Not only is this a photographic site, but also an academy of famous people and places.

I live in Vancouver, BC, CDN, which is more infamous than famous for its liberal views, availability of pot, drugs, micro breweries and the sheer amount of glass built into its downtown architecture, in an earthquake-prone region.

When you step away from it all and block out everything man-made with your thumb or index finger (!), it looks like paradise.

I live in Clevedon, England, and go to the same school as Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols went to. An episode of 'Eastenders' was also filmed here.

Everywhere/anywhere is paradise - depending on what you choose to see.

I live in Deer Island Oregon, which is located on the Columbia River about 30 miles down river from Portland. Itís not really much of a town since it consists of one gas station\quickie mart. I believe we are most famous for having a large number of high-end rednecks. Most of them have not one or two, but three or four broken down vehicles in their front yards. And, a lot of them drive pickups that are more expensive than their mobile homes. Does that count? :)
