Seriously ... if you're complaining about trying to get in the top 10 now you should have been here when the competition was much more fierce with weekly challenges having more than 250 entries and monthly ones having over 700.
Took more time to vote on challenges but you got to see more amazing images that helped to inspire you.

Jeremy, I don't understand what you're trying to achieve here.

Last week you started a thread called "Disappointed". You had a lot of feedback which included many good tips and ideas, and yet you never ended up responding to it.

Now you're doing it again...... same topic, lots of feedback, but no word from you.

You need to show us that you're actually READING all this....... what's the point of just complaining without reacting to the help you're getting?

The overwhelming majority of DPC is comprised of amateurs. Just because you don't work professionally doesn't mean you can't aim to improve, The whole idea behind DPC is to improve, to seek feedback, to take part in the community. On the contrary, you lament not being a part of a group, yet you've neglected to even partake in the threads you created. You're expecting other users to invest more effort into a thread you created than you're willing to. By the way, I think part of the reason for the frustration you've received from users in this thread is also due to the fact that you have a very low percentage of comments that you have received that are useful. It's a small thing, but many feel like if you aren't even willing to consider the input in your comments, what is the point? Having said that, I'd urge you to go back through your comments received, and see what folks are saying about your photos, and try to improve from there. It's admittedly difficult for people to spend their time critiquing an image of an individual that won't even acknowledge the time and effort spent to leave feedback.

The only real and important questions you should be asking yourself about here are:
is being in the top ten necessarily a good thing and does it mean I'm improving ?
Would trying to get high scores not limit my photographic vision ?
Would the real high scoring images here get any praise in an international exhibition, or would they be looked at with distane because they've had far too much done to them ?
Do I only want to portray nice happy feelings with my photos, or do I want people to reflect on them for maybe more than 3seconds?

If you honestly answer all those questions and you still want some fame here, then I can give you some serious hot tips on how to get a TT spot, I've had loads and it's dead easy once you've understood the basics.

Yeah -
But that is how helpful this community is. We want to see people succeed -
it's like someone who skips class and doesn't do well on tests ... we are the teachers (or other students) trying to tutor him but where the #@!* is he?

I can't believe any of you are even responding to him. He has started 3 threads that basically say "I am a terrible photographer and I am going to quit photography" and in those 3 threads he has responded back 2 times. Once in the quote above and once in another thread to thank one person. Has he sent anyone a message asking for help or a critique? If he has then disregard my post, but from where I am sitting it looks like someone just wanting attention. He has been given a lot of good and sound advice, time for him to pick up the ball and play with it.

FWIW the OP sounds a lot like my eldest brother. He's spent decades of his life being deeply depressed and just feeling sorry for himself, despite the fact that he's very intelligent (went to Queens University in Kingston and got a degree in Electrical Engineering). Been into stuff from building computers to being an Outward Bound instructor, has travelled extensively and been many places...but lived in a state of perpetual dissatisfaction. No amount of coaxing or encouragement did anything to cheer him up for more than a little while. He refused to take antidepressants because the side effects didn't agree with him.

Well, to make a long story short - gawd I wish I did know the people who talked him into it, because they worked wonders and got him to go with them to Greece to help out a charity. Anyhow, he is now in the Greek Islands, helping out at a Syrian refugee camp, putting his vast wealth of knowledge to good use, setting up solar panels so they generate electricity for the camps is my understanding.

So. Methinks the OP is very like my brother in that he tends to be depressed and wants to pull out of it, but is going about it all the wrong way.

I haven't made to the Top 10. It's not so easy. I always disappointed but I'm keeping trying.

Also, my pictures never make to the Favorite List.

I do not have that many friends from DPChallenge. That's fine with me and my pictures aren't that good either. It's just for fun for me.

If you hurry and enter the Allegory challenge you would currently be sure of a top 20 photo.
