A local shop offers Surface Pro 3 i5, 128G, 4G RAM at approx USD900.

Included are FREE Type Cover 3 and Office 365 Personal 1 year + some small goodies like a Bluetooth mouse, a bag, some USB thumbdrive etc.

I aim to use it for travelling.

I am currently using a hybrid T100TA 64G + 500G that I am quite happy with but can not handle any PS or LR properly.

Anyone any opinion?

Thanks,

T

The models with 8gb of RAM are worth the money.

They are out of my budget... The config mentioned is the max I can afford.

Thanks, Cory

I actually have the 8 gb ram one (type on it as we, um, read). Splendid little machine. I don't know if the 4 gb ram will handle the PS files.

Of course, I haven't loaded PS on this either, so take with a grain of salt.

I have a Surface Pro 3 w/8g mem and the i7 processor. I run Photoshop, Lightroom and Corel Painter16 on it. Overall, I really like it. the quad interface (stylus, touchpad, touch screen and keyboard) make navigation pretty easy unless you get "confused" - like trying to use the stylus on the touch pad instead of the screen. That would probably be less a problem if you aren't used to using something like a Wacom on your desktop. I find myself jumping from touch screen to touch pad to keyboard pretty unconsciously when doing normal navigation and find the stylus wonderful for PS, LR and P16. It tethers seamlessly with my 5D3 through LR

I LOVE the wireless adapter that allows you to simultaneously show absolutely anything you can access on the SP3 on your giant (or otherwise) TV screen. Sort of like the Chromecast without limitations.

The screen is brilliantly sharp and crisp and the USB3 port is quite useful. There is also a micro sd port for extra storage. Battery power is fairly limited (4-6hrs), esp. if using a lot of CPU intensive stuff. My unit, w/ i7 processor runs pretty hot - uncomfortably so if used flat on my lap.

They aren't cheap, that's for sure.

Thank you for the answers.

Unfortunately I can not afford higher specs. Budget is limited to this offer.
At work I use a more then 4 years old MacBook Pro running i7, 4G ram and i find it OK, even though a bit slow, when running LR4 and CS4.

Home I have a Asus i7 HQ 4700 on 16GB Ram and 4GB Nvidia graphic card...

I guess the Surface Pro i5 with 4GB RAM could be manageable for LR ad some Nik Efects in PS CC...

I'm sure it would be. Penny has one, and it's a corker of a little machine. But she hasn't loaded PS or LR on it yet, I don't think. Still, this laptop I'm using for my main computer now has only 4 G's of RAM and IT handles the big boys fine...

Impressed! Gorgeous screen. The pen is wonderful in LR.

Congratulations! Makes me want to drag mine out of wherever I left it because the graphics won't keep up with Farmville. Ha!

PS runs nicely too! The device gets hot a bit and the keyboard is a bit tiny but I am totally happy with it. I did my panorama entry on it.
