This topic (challenge descriptions) has come up in another thread. This challenge is a perfect example of how a challenge name and description can be downright confusing. We've had a FOUR TILTED challenges ...

So crooked can't possibly be TILTED 5 can it? As far as I'm concerned, a crooked subject meets the challenge - a disorienting, crooked POV does as well ... I think in cases like this, voters should give the benefit of the doubt.

It is a bit tough to decipher, but here is how I read it from the beginning:

Twisted perspective refers to the view from behind the camera (the perspective from which something is viewed), not the subject in front of the camera no matter how crooked or twisted it is.

--- or ---

It is the perspective that needs to be twisted, not the subject.

Wow, no wonder my score is so bad. I spent the entire week trying to take pictures of crooked things. Never occurred to me it was as easy as tilting my camera. I could have been done in less than an hour. A thousand pardons.

Have I ever said I hate descriptions? The title of the challenge plus the editing rule set should be enough. And I know I should read every bit and click on every possible thing to see if there is something hidden for me to find and then find the forum discussions and read all those to see what's going to fly and what will crash, but frankly, where's the fun in that?

You forgot to add that you also need to work out which way the main voters are going to vote and then shoot for that. LOL! You know...follow the popularity group!!! NOT! Shoot for yourself and remember....that in the long run, the popularity group are gong to be stuck behind the counter serving fries with your Mcdonalds order whilst the outside-the-box/creative ones will be holding exhibitions for the masses.

ETA corrected - see strike out. Forgot for a moment that the rule set was Minimal.

edit to add: A relevant definition of perspective: "the state of existing in space before the eye (or, in our case, before the camera)

I don't think people understand that it's MINIMAL editing... Not much you can do there... HOWEVER it will be the last damn time I ever enter a minimal challenge again. I'm sitting at a 3.9

Not saying I'm a 7 but at least a mid 5

As usual, I may have read the description wrong....again. 4.04

I looks like many did. There are a lot of shots of something crooked...instead of crooked shots.

Challenge description - Skewed horizons, twisted perspectives, use your imagination and go out-of-the-box and out-of-whack. How is something crooked seen as DNMC?

When it's taken by another team?

True。

Started voting.
Got dizzy.
Had a few drinks.
Now I'm more dizzy.
Time to finish voting!

Did not vote yet, just glanced at a few pics and I find very refreshing the minimal editing; no more haloes, no saturated colors, no over sharpening, no cropping…they look like real photographs!
Must say that i like post processing but we all tend to abuse it sometimes.

If a group is characterterized as "cheaters" in my area, it is taken as an offense. But, evidently you can say anything you want at DPC, under the guise of "meant to be humorous".

Richard, I've called you many things over the years, but never a cheater. :) <--- smiley face, denotes humor.

Yeah, your title seems to be a "not funny" insinuation that impugns the integrity of DPC. The challenge has nothing to do with rigged voting, DPL or otherwise. Am I the only one who finds the title out-of-line? Furthermore, if you have evidence of rigged voting, then I hope you will back your title words with your proof.

Wow Richard... still no sense of humor, eh?

And the title was already changed to remove the "DPL" joke, so just relax and snap on.

Scoring threads are often constructed to be funny. Kevin has a long and distinguished history of creating such threads for us.

As the thread stands now, it is well within my threshold for humour. I'm sorry it isn't within yours but given you don't have the power to change it, I guess you'll have to live with it. However, if a multitude of people share your concerns I'll reconsider.

I just thought it was a tongue in cheek nod towards some of the discussions. It didn't bother me.

However, back to the scores -- mine is fluctuating rapidly.

Voters have a very skewed view of my entry - it is quite unjustly sitting a smidgeon below 6. Tbh, a final 5.2 would be overly generous!

if we only vote with crooked letters, that means only 7 and 4 count (and 4 is only 1/3 as crooked as 7 is, overall)
