I am going to offer a free print (well, base price) to all those who comment on every shot in the Masters' Challenge. Your comments don't need to be marked as helpful to count, but they should be thoughtful, and be more than 'nice shot' or things along those lines. If you mention the score you gave people on all the comments, and be honest, then you can have 2 free prints.

There are only 69 photos, it isn't really that many.

Hopefully this will encourage people to really look at the entries in more detail and by being honest and leaving scores it will help the photographers learn too.

Just reply to this thread when you're finished and I'll check to make sure you really did comment at the end of the voting week, at which time I'll PM you about the freebies :)

Happy commenting!

Resorting to bribery, eh? I admit I'm tempted tho... ;o)

Hmmm.... I might just take you up on this, if I can.
I've already done my first draft voting but am not finished by any means.
I think I'm going to revise the scale I use to be able to be more accurate in categorising how I like each image compared with it's peers in this challenge. At the moment I just used my normal scale and everything is between 5 and 9. (No doubt I'll get slated for daring to give a 5 on my normal scale to an image in the masters but there are some that I don't think so much of).
But what I might do is create a new scale just for voting this challenge so I can use more of the scale.

I just saw this after going thru the photos and making just one comment on the photo that reallly reallllly caught my eye. BUT HEY, I'd be glad to comment on each one! My only problem is I can't vote, I'm not a member...so does it still apply to poor students who haven't been around very long but love to comment and who'd really love a free print and..and...and...so whaddya say? :)

Original post says nothing about having to vote, just comment.

Probably coz Ben took into account the very situation you describe.

I think it's the comments he's trying to increase anyway...

Non-members can still comment, so you'd get at least the one free print...

Dammit, that's the 2nd time I've been pipped at the post by a handful of seconds!!! Guess I should think about going to the pub^W^W^W home...

Okay, so poor unobservant student...pardon me :)

Thanks fellas!

I'd already decided to comment on every pic, although to be honest this was due to the shame that I have more comments received than made :)

But a free print is always appreciated :)

Well... I did miss the thing about the second print but... you gotta be innit to winnit or something.

Jeez - my eyes watered when I read this!! Time to start the 'Let's Bankrupt Ben' thread I think and get those lapsed members to vote too. You never know Ben - you might end up pleading with us NOT to get some of your prints!! :D

Well, if it comes down to the whole world commenting and your bankruptcy, I'll forego the free print...it's a good idea, though! And I'm having fun commenting on all the shots. I'm up to 20 now :)

Jeez I should be working...oh well!

I don't think he'll be bankrupt. I think, if I'm reading the original post correctly, he's still going to charge the base price.

So he won't be out of pocket but is foregoing all his potential profits.

But I might be guessing wrong...

Nope, I think you're right! :-)

Having 69 images only in this challenge really gives one the opportunity to take some more time per image and comment on every single one of them. I find that a lot more thoughts come into my mind with that bit of extra time.

Good idea to stimulate others to do the same.

Kavey - you're absolutely right - I was blind and now I can see! No free print after all. ; )

Good idea Ben, coz I think the Masters challenge needs all the help it can get with only 300 threads running on the subject and those pinioned 69 images possibly being missed altogether! :D

I was going to comment on them all anyway though since there aren't that many Masters who felt masterful after all.

Amazing Grace has a line close to that.

Primal Scream - Movin' On Up ...

"I was blind, now I can see
You made a believer, out of me

I'm movin' on up now
Gettin' out of the darkness
My light shines on"

I can just hear that Primal track right now (in my mind's ear) - brilliant. It was also a classic moment in The Life of Brian!

Anyway, apologies if this is off-topic (please don't issue a ticket!).
