What if I photograph a whole part of something? Should I only photograph part of the part or the whole part or part of the whole?

Photograph the whole part of this, buddy.

I think part of the challenge within this challenge will be to remain impartial with regards to the images portraying a whole recognizable part as opposed to those portraying a wholly unrecognizable part.

What I really want to know is how people submit to challenges minutes after the deadlines. Are they cheating or is it an honest mistake?

How do you remain impartial in this challenge?

"Rapid responses" can occur three ways:

• Someone submitting to previous challenge on slow connection has their entry diverted into the new one instead (rare)

• Someone submits any old image as a "placeholder" for their eventual entry (rare)

• Someone immediately has an idea for the challenge which can be done with minimal preparation and does it.

I know this last one is at least possible, as I once had an entry submitted (something like) 48 minutes after the challenge was announced (first in the challenge) -- in fact, I think I tried that twice in that same week. It didn't work that much better than shooting things at 11 p.m. Sunday though ...

I made a point of noting in the additional info that the EXIF would show a date of the previous date, but late enough to be legal.

The description says photograph part of 'something'...what do they mean? What do they want me to photograph?

I don't want to suffer low votes if I choose the wrong 'something' to photograph...why can't they be more specific in their challenge descriptions?

What is this "something" that everyone keeps talking about?

That's what you are not allowed to mention. Find it and follow the steps :)
Something can be anything. Making it something that has a part you can photograph in an interesting and pleasing way is your job.

but the 'anything' that is 'something', is it a part of something, a part of anything, a part of everything or a whole of something/anything/everything?

...so, if I shoot part of nothing, will it be something??

09/29/2004 08:30:38 AM · #14
IF your subject is a person, you could think of a lot of parts to photograph. But then if your subject is just the face, your choices are narrowed down. And if your subject is the nose, then the part becomes part of the nose :) All depends on what your subject is.

part of nothing is a fraction of nothing :)

maybe this is a conspiracy to stop voters claiming a pic is off topic and does not meet the challenge ;)

The box has been broken up into parts and scattered.

I'd use Tv mode to set the shutter speed at 1/2000 to get a stopped-motion shot of the pee, ...and then crop to one/two drops, which would be part of the pee, right??

More drops again?
