Can i start taking a bunch of winter landscapes now, with my EXIF set forward a few months, to use them in a summertime challenge, to contrast my entry with the others?

Sure, and we promise not to tell anyone why you've been gone for a couple of months ...

Haaaaa. Funniest post in this thread.

So...a question on photo time in the EXIF and submission time. Is the photo time based on the time the photo was taken at the photo site (e.g. Chinese time, when shooting in China) or based on U.S. dpc time? Same for submissions... submission deadline based on the US deadline time, even though it's past the deadline in other parts of the world (e.g. Europe, Asia)?

The deadline is a fixed point in time: rollover is ALWAYS at Midnight EST or EDT (New York Time), regardless of where you are in the world. The "correct" time is always on display via the DPChallenge clock. Those who live in different time zones have long since learned that "their rollover" is 9PM if they live in California, for example, and even on a different "Day" if they live across the dateline from the USA, and SC takes all this into account.

If you are traveling, just make yourself aware of the time-zone difference when you shoot, and make a note of it in your photographers notes when you submit to a challenge...

Ok Well then... What If I'm caught in a Quantum Time Continuum and this leads to seemingly paradoxical resolutions to the paradox. Assume the external subsystem is irrelevant, and only a qubit travels in the CTC. Also assume during the course around the time machine, the value of the qubit is flipped according to the unitary operator

Would that be an EXCEPTION????

NO. EXCEPTIONS!!

Sheesh...

That's why I had one of my DQs. I was traveling with the Doctor, and the tardis had it's time set wrong.

My entries are frequently taken the day after rollover (being a last minute kind of gal). Rollover for me varies between 2.00pm and 4.00pm according to respective daylight savings arrangements. (Currently it's 4.00pm which I vastly prefer.)

Did I miss a change of rules? I always thought it was until midnight local time. No complaining though, gives me 6 hours extra...

Today I received the DPC Weekly Update email, which still shows "Morning Glow" as the winner in "Orange"

That email was sent out on 3/3 – a day before the image was disqualified.
