Hail to the Winners ! Those are some niiice pics, folks. Good job :) Point, you really got a nice shot of that bird :).

HERE are my grate (haha) outtakes for the challenge.

Which should I have submitted and why?

This one, even though you've got pieces of towel stuck in your cheese grater, it's still got the most incredible color. And besides, those little fuzzies give it extra texture :-)

Thank you magnetic9999. More luck than skill though!

I agree Point. I am quite shocked with the results to this one.
I am so excited about the new one I am actually in the 6s right now. (don't mind me, I'm still a newbie).

This was my highest rated challenge! Congrats to the top 3... and to everyone! Great job!

I have an OUTTAKE, that I wouldn't mind some comments on. I didn't use it (1) because I thought it was too dark, esp. down near the bottom right corner, and (2) because I thought it was too photoshopped. I used curves (practicing!) on the whole image. Read the comment I left under the photo, too.
What would you have scored this?
Thanks.

While I like the outtake for it's psychedelic characteristics, Karen, I think the one you posted was 'bellissimo!' :)

Which shot do you think I should have submitted?

Karen...personally I love seeing effects like this one. I've played around with that as well but I think you did well in choosing the one you submitted for this site. I would have rated it higher than most I think, but a lot of folks don't like photoshopping here... (my thoughts are, I think it makes it your own in a different way).

Thanks as well for the comments left in the other forum thread about my bucket....I read your comment and I left a comment on yours too! :)

Thanks, Kollin!
I gave your submission a 9. Thought it was creative/different. I do, however, like "redsideview"! :-)

aelith: I like potter's tools B&W, and section.
I don't understand why they look pixelated though. Is it how pbase loaded them?

Just wanted to let you know how good I think Panache looks with the adjusted curves/levels. Beautiful :)

Thanks! I owe alot of those corrections to Brumos! (from his advice)
What do you think of the outtakes: "Look to the Sea" and "Untitled"?
Just curious.

I was just looking at the results for "Not As Fluffy..." and reading the wonderfully positive comments.

Even granted differences in taste, I am astonished that a dozen or more people voted this is a 3 or 2! But no negative comments, not even to be "helpful."

What's that all about??

I will go out on a limb and say "the world turns differently for some". A matter of taste? Historically the top photos have had this occur.

You mean out of 269 people you don't think there are gonna be some...ahem...differing opinions :-)

I actually can appreciate someone saying they just hate a picture on a personal level more than giving a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo.

I mean, my daughter hates, despises...cannot even smell hamburger but loves steak. Whats THAT all about?

Congratulations to all who entered the Texture challenge. I continue to be impressed by the talent here! Especially admire the work of those who rose to the top, for you are all a great inspiration. Many thanks also to those of you who took the time to offer helpful critique. I value it highly. As the weeks go by I am more and more appreciative of what a great learning site this is.
Psssst.....EVERYONE....Thank YOU!

i was amused by the peeps that said 'not much texture' in mine.

i would like anyone to take the cheese grater and rub it against their face and tell me how little texture they feel :-D

She sounds like she will be an expensive date...that's what that's about. My daughter loves hamburger but hates steak. Will not eat a hot dog, but loves corned beef hash and livermush. (and for those who don't know what livermush (aka scrapple) is, don't ask.

I just don't get it.

Hi Karen just got home from work. Thanks for looking. I like Section too but was afraid it would be too abstract for most people.
re pixilation japeggies whatever. I seem to be doing something wrong when I resize because the camera defaulted to a large format with out my notice. If you look at OLD POST it is just fine but I got that one on the C-3020 in the right size format and had no adjustments to make.

of well, one step at a time.

BTW, the pots were in a shop and I didn't feel free to re-arrange his display. I hope to visit next door and try again. Aelith
