I procrastinated but I'll still vote and comment today.

Maybe you should do what some people here do, and post your entry on FB a day or so prior to entering it in a challenge. Or just ride your own coattails - and enter a look-alike shot with which you have just ribboned.

My first Free Study as well. I was on cloud nine when I had a 6.8 after 5 votes. Then reality smacked me in the face...hard. The next day I was at 5.7 something after 20 votes. I must say, I found that quite disappointing, especially considering how low those votes must have been to drag me down from the 6.8.

I'm happy to say that my score kept climbing over the weekend.

C'mon 6.2!

I have to agree with others though, I am quite surprised at the low vote count.

My score is presently struggling at 5.65 with 128 views and 72 votes. There are a lot of great photos in this competition so if I finish with a 5.6 or higher I'll be happy with that. What I don't understand is when there are a 163 participants in a challenge and not every participant even has a look at the other entries in the challenge let alone votes. If it is worth the effort to submit your photograph in a challenge, then it is worth the effort to view all the entries and vote on them.

My own entry is midrange, but better than the last one! Hoping to make the top 50% for a change.

Some really nice entries this month - it was a pleasure to vote.

My only nit - if you're shooting a large body of water and there's no real reason to have it tilted (sometimes there is!) do make sure it's more or less level. I worry when the water starts running out of the side of the picture. Gets all over the desk and then you start to worry about the electronics.....

Hey! I didn't get that upgrade! Do I need a special plug in for it to work?

Yep. I saw one in the challenge like that.

Invest in a good screen saver, it will keep your desk dry and protect your electronics.

See, I know all about the water thing because I do shoot the ocean from time to time, and for whatever reason, I'm always 0.17 off level. Must be my astigmatism, or however that is spelled. And that darn water will start to leak all over the desk if I don't straighten the shot first thing, right away. For those times when I INTEND to have it way off level, I just make sure I have towels on hand....

Never thought about getting the screen saver... that might work...

Seems odd that participants are not interested in the challenge they're in. I got 76 votes out of the 163 participants and 6 comments.

I did vote on all images and made 30 comments.

For those who might have been hoping for a comment on the happy animals challenge, I'm afraid I'm not willing to put myself through finding things to say about more than 50 photos of animals, but I will vote.

I have voted on nearly all. some I couldn't bear to... but there was a lovely handful of delights, which made me hopeful that my own entry could slink away in the night.

Now that voting is over, I have to say, the early voters were brutal. At 40 votes I was sitting at 5.75 and quite disappointed. By the mid-70s, I saw it peak at 6.1644 (followed by a 2), and finished at 6.0824 with 85 votes

First 40 - 5.75
Last 45 - 6.3778

Early hate, late love

Did anyone else experience that swing?

Exactly the same with me.
