20D: Got my battery grip and 17-85mm lens!!!!

Just got my battery grip for the 20D and my EFs 17-85mm IS USM lens :)

Wooohoooo!!!!!!!

Naturally, I would be happier though if I actually had a 20D to go with them as right now I can't use them at all *laugh*

Roll on next week!!!!!!!!!

Photo Continental. They had them there a couple of weeks ago when I popped in, but I only just ordered my camera the other day. Same with the battery grip.

Us Aussies seem to be ahead with the accessories but behind with the bodies.

Yup, there's teamwork :) I even have a spare battery so between us we'd have a full set :)

Meet you half way between Brisbane and Washington. If we're lucky that will be a nice island paradise ..... if we are unlucky we'll be in the middle of the ocean and get eaten by sharks ..... so make sure you get some photos of that in a hurry or it will all be for nothing!

Expect a phone call Teds just got theirs in this afternoon. So it's official Brisbane has 20Ds!

Excellent news!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canon told me last week there had been a delay, and next Friday was the new expected date for them to reach the stores.

Photo Continental at lunchtime were expecting early next week.

This is looking very positive indeed.

Stores seem to be expecting partial fullfillment of their orders though, I just hope I am high enough up the list to get one of the first batch :)

Let us know when you have your actual hands on one, as I assume from the post you have one ordered too :)

I'm very much looking foreward to hearing how this lens is, as it sounds like a great general purpose lens. If it is good, it will be a good first lens, then later the 70-200 L or the 70-300 for more range + the 50mm & you have a pretty good range. I have searched the internet and find no example pictures or hands on reviews of the lens yet.

I am selling a couple of my lenses, a Tamron 19-35 and the basic Canon 28-90 and replacing them both with this new lens, which with the IS should be significantly better than either of those.

I'll then have everything covered bar 85-100 mm which I can easily work round with:

Canon EFs 17-85mm IS USM f4-5.6

Canon EF 100mm (Macro) f2.8

Canon EF 100-400mm IS L f4-5.6 (I think it is)

Room for more lenses later, but for now I am happy I have everything covered and with decent glass.

I'll be looking at a flash upgrade before any new lenses now I think ... 580ex one day I hope :)

Three of my mates picked up theirs from Teds today. I haven't got one on order :( I am getting mine early next year. Let me say they are a tidy little unit and I am looking forward to getting one.

Whhhooooooohhhhhoooooo!!!!!! Got my 20D today - Teds phoned at about 2:30 and I sprinted down Adelaide Street like I've never sprinted before :D.
Like Boozon said, three of us got ours today - we were lucky 'cause we were 1, 2 and 3 to pre-order and only three bodies came in. All the others were kits.
I've ordered and paid for the battery grip through Teds and they weren't in so there's more waiting, but I can handle that one.
You should get a call VERY soon Simon so hang in there buddy.
Off to play now.......

Just Collected mine :-) can't wait until I have finished work to try it out. Still waiting for the battery grip :-(
