I was just wondering if anyone else was finding their 717 over exposing on close range portraits using flash. I've tried everything i can think of to reduce the exposure (flash level, ISO, shutter speed, etc) and I think it may be a physical problem with the camera.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?? (sorry, bad pun)

I don't know about the 717, but I have the 707. If your subject is close range, you may want to try a couple different things...

1 - use the EV setting to underexpose your shot to reduce the warmth of the flash.

2 - use the low power flash setting

3 - you could try to diffuse your flash some by taping a small piece of tissue paper over the flash bulb. This doesn't look too 'cool' but I have successfully shot flash images this way :)
