I can't believe how much sharper it is over the kit lens... I'm sure we'll both love it!

So if one was to buy a Rebel, one should get the 50mm f1.8 and body instead of kit lens/w body?

The 50mm is fun! And a prime will frequently be sharper than a zoom. I need to post a couple of my 50mm shots.

the kit lens is a zoom so it's got more stuff it can do. The 50mm is a prime lens. For a lot of situations having a zoom is more convinient than a prime.

Is this the 50mm f1.8 'I' or 'II'? I just order a used 'I' to have the metal mount.

50mm 1.8 and 1.4 are badass. Amazing how "hand holdable" they are indoors.
